That'd be my guess too.pHz wrote:... doesnt start rendering until it 'hears' an output

what you should try to do is bounce all those files to wav & THEN bring them back in & see if they're still lined up..

Kind of like the man said in some previous post, you need two instruments at a minimum.. then put the plugin with delay on one, and leave the other "dry". IIRC the concept is that the host should "know" one insturment will be offset by the internal delay of the offending plugin and adjust the other instruments accordingly so things stay in sync.Kriminal wrote:That is 4 bars of a very simple bassline rendered to .wav, with and without PDC enabled, as it says, al using the same impulse.
Wide Boys Convo Boy is another plugin that has an internal delay, you can test with that as well.
There is also a chance I don't know my arse from a hole in the ground, I'm sick today and doped up on cold medicine.

rendering a song that uses delay introducing plugins WITHOUT PDC means that some of your tracks are going to be out of sync by however many samples and so you get phase problems or just plain sloppy timings ...Kriminal wrote:YeppHz wrote: dunno though ... confusing innit ???![]()

small clip where you can see why PDC is needed (in orion)..
http://home.att.net/~vitamind/pleasePDC2.mp3
first clip in line.. pause.. then second clip out of whack..
listen to how out of time it gets with the inclusion of ONE curveEQ plugin. The delay compounds with each delay-inducing plugin.. so imagine using 2 or 3 of these with some psp plugins.. a sir.. and etc
using the manual delay correcting plugin is a hassle.. because if you end up using a delay-inducing plugin on one of the bus channels, then all the sends go out of time.. and it becomes a major game just to eliminate all the delays..
forget about using something like a UAD-1 or Powercore with orion.. I bet those give off major delay too..

I don't understand how those clips don't have delay on them (although the delays can look like they're not there until you zoom in a fair bit.
Did you record the ones with things like SIR on them as an insert 100% wet with the dry signal switched off? Usually that'll produce a quite visible delay.
Another plugin that produces a good delay is TripleC from Sinusweb - in fact almost any read-ahead limiter will too - Tls maximiser is another candidate.
Personally I'd try it rendering audio with inserts into audio, as mentioned...it's possible that most hosts nowadays have PDC for midi synths hardwired. (hardcoded?)
