could someone please tell me what a msvcr72.dll file is. When I try to load Crystal into FL, I get an error message saying that it's missing.

http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.php?msvcr71 Get it from here and put it in your c:\windows\system32 folder.
The reason it's not usually included is because so many things rely on it (no idea why it's not installed as default when installing windows, but it's not.) and you'd end up with 10's maybe even 100's of them. It's a generic .dll, so once it's in system32 anything that needs it will use this one. Same with any .dll erros, just download them and shove them in that folder.

Ehm, that would be http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/pop.php?msvcr72
(and I wonder why Google didn't find that)
edit: and now I know why to avoid Dot Net Framework.

Download Crystal for Windows(If you don't see anything when you unzip this file, be sure to turn on the display of .dll files: Go to "Folder options" in windows explorer, select "View" and turn on "show hidden files and folders". You'll then see the Crystal.dll file.) Older versions of Windows may require a copy of the msvcr71.dll file in the system32 folder.
I'm just going by what it says on the site. no mention of msvcr72.dll.
Never even heard of that file period.

Correct, it says so on the site. Glenn Olander pointed that to me also after I've mailed him.Makeshift Hammer wrote:Older versions of Windows may require a copy of the msvcr71.dll file in the system32 folder.
But I don't consider Windows XP SP2 to be an "old version" of Windows! Its just that I don't need the dotnet framework and hence it did not install with Windows itself. (a search on another system indicated to me the file is installed as a part of the humungous dotnet framework)
