Plugin to create chords from a melody

Hey folks,

First time here! I've been using Scaler 2 to learn about music and especially chords. However, it doesn't do quite what I want it to do, or maybe I just don't know how to do it.

I'm looking for a plugin (if it exists) where you can import your melody and have the plugin create the chords for you. Is there such a thing? Is there a DAW that does this? I'm using FL Studio and I know for a fact that it doesn't.

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Scaler can do this, sort of. You can play in your melody, and it will show you chords in the key/scale that you just played. You still have to pick them and arrange them yourself. But you’d probably want to do that anyway. There’s a video on YouTube where one of the Scaler developers shows how to do this.

What a pity Ludwig has never been develloped after version 3 which must been near to 10 years old now. I know I had some contact with the develloper and discussed some requests but then it seems to be abandoned

The Ludwig 3 seems to be quite suitable for my modest needs.The free demo churns out acceptable for me arrangements/chord progressions/accompaniments, at least for some few melodies in the song database. I don't know yet if there is random variation or how, from run to run when I make no changes in input parameters.

The playback is not so good though.

Music has been around for a really long time, and the means to understand through theory and the written medium just about equally as long. Hundreds of years long! It's been that way because it works.

I have spent the time learning how to read, write, and theorize music.

If you don't like the fact that I'm merely pointing out how fat and lazy humanity is getting, well that's you. No reason to denigrate me for humanity's decline.

"If you've used samples, you've failed someone's purity test." is a really obviously fallacious tack to take.
Let's apply reductio ad absurdum: if you aren't a luthier and are using an 'off-the-rack' store-bought instrument you'll have failed SOMEBODY'S "purity test". I can't be certain you know what a capo is if that's one. It smacks of desperation.

I would use a capo in order to get [as close as we can get to] the timbre of open strings in higher positions.
or some are too weak to form a barre chord, some would in lieu of quite grasping chords one supposes, but these are different situations and to attribute the former use case to laziness per se is frankly thought-free.

Export your melody as midi file (audio also works) and import the midi in Scaler 3. It will suggest chords based on the notes.
