Very unlikely to be a specific drum machine. Plumps basically used the same sounds on all their tracks. Any 'kit' heavily edited and processed will get you there. No short cuts unfortunately.

I dont think its one specific drum machine either, I think they re-sampled a lot for drums, but that kick sounds 808-ish to me

Here's a interview about the 2003 album eargasm, that remix was 2001 so same setup?

“The album was made in Andy Gardner’s studio. The setup was very simple. We just had literally two Yamaha NS10 speakers, a Mackie desk, Logic – a pirated early version of Logic, on the computer sequencer, and an Akai sampler. Andy used a vocoder on some tracks. And you know, a couple of synths.

“I think the Sequential Circuits Pro One, the Juno-106 for some fat bass, a Roland SH-101… not a lot. A WASP synth. The ARP 2600. And a couple of guitar pedals and, you know, basic outboard effects units. And we just made the best of what we had.

“Then we would sample records on the Technics decks, from digging around bargain basement record shops for ideas and loops. The tracks would take weeks to make.

If you want the exact sound of that intro, just sample and slice it. It's what they would have done.

I've heard a different version of this (yet very similar) on a compilation album CD of various artists, but I'm guessing that they used samples/sampler on this tune, because there's a bold, dominant part in the other version which sounds suspiciously like a different track by a different artist who was commercially successful as a one-hit wonder. But this particular edition, has that part nearly removed. But to be realistic, tons of people sampled the same tune so it's wierd how times have changed. I don't think anybody tries to get away with huge bold samples anymore.
