I can certainly see myself using it on many tracks, I like the simplicity and the sound. Gonna have to wait for one of those nobrainer sales prices though.cryophonik wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 8:42 pmI bought Simplon a long time ago for some no-brainer sale price and I probably use it more than any other FF product except Pro-Q. It's my go-to utility filter for basic high/low cut tasks and for basic filter sweeps. I have other filter plugins that I prefer for more creative needs or where the filter effect is prominently featured, but Simplon is just a great, simple get 'er done tool IMO.multree wrote: Tue May 27, 2025 8:34 pm Simplon looks really nice, and sounds good as well.
It's fun to use, but unfortunately I can't justify the $49 price for this simple plug-in.
imo it's a. LITTLE on the expensive side of things.

Yeah, I don’t think Fabfilter expects people to pay full price for their older and cheaper plugins. I think they’re mostly just there to entice customers to buy with their loyalty offers, when they can get them for $30 or so after they buy a few of their flagship plugins.

Sometimes I think I am the only person in the world who likes Twin 3. I picked it up today along with R2, Saturn 2, Timeless and Volcano with the extra 25% off bundles sale at FF. That was a pretty heavy discount. Looked at the bottom of their build your own bundle page and saw how cheap One, Micro and Simplon were with those huge percentage discounts and grabbed them while I was there. So far, out of the basic plugins Simplon is the one I will use most. Don't always need something as extensive as Q-4.
All I need to be happy is one more VSTi.

To me, programming patches in Twin 3 feels like wandering through a dark, misty forest at night. Stuff just kind of emerges from and sinks back into the thick fog, shifting in its form and ever-changing positions, and I don’t really know where I am or what’s going on. An enchanted frog laughs at me as I wander past the same pond for a third time, trying to find my way out.

Oh I find it pretty easy-ish now. Takes some hours of dedicated learning, though. And saving a smart init or few of your own.tumface wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:59 pm To me, programming patches in Twin 3 feels like wandering through a dark, misty forest at night. I still find it one of the best-sounding VAs on the market. As a bonus, it’s not really emulating anything specific, so it has its own character. I’m kind of tired of emulations and have relegated them to being secondary - or even just deleted most of them.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about re: being tired of Virtual Analog synthesizers all being emulations. I don't think most VAs are trying to be emulations. Serum, Hive, Dune, Pigments, Spire, Rapid. None of these are emulations. The only VA emulation I have is the OSTirus, which is an actual emulation in the sense that it emulates the actual DSP chips the Virus TI used.

I just updated pro-q3 to pro-q4 and also Twin to Twin 3. I think it's a really deep and great synth. Just need to learn it.Rabid wrote: Thu Jun 19, 2025 11:19 pm Sometimes I think I am the only person in the world who likes Twin 3. Thinking about working on my FF collection, decided to give Volcano 3, Twin 3 and Simplon another try.
Interestingly, the one I like best so far is Simplon. I'll prob grab that at least since it's only $20.
Volcano 3 is not really doing it for me, Twin 3 is ok imo...
*Volcano gets better when you actually use it to do something and stop paying attention to the
included presets.

Presets are a weak point in the FabFilter lineup. Twin could use about a thousand additional presets. The Volcano presets aren't good and all have the silly "bM" initials. They update the preset system in Twin 3, and it's better, but still needs a little love. And, they didn't roll the new preset system into these updates, which is a bummer (even if they are small plugins without a ton of presets)pekbro wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 9:50 pm *Volcano gets better when you actually use it to do something and stop paying attention to the

Generally, I like his presets and his appreciate his input around here, but definitely these could use some variety in the sound design dept. I do find it odd that they don't seem to include content from many more designers.art&sound wrote: Sun Jun 22, 2025 11:53 pmPresets are a weak point in the FabFilter lineup. Even Worrel must be too busy or something, considering his penchant for FF.

He's cool. I mostly mean there aren't enough of them (again), and that the lowercase uppercase initials look ridiculous. If all the creative plugins had the presets system updated, and they shipped with 4x the presets or more, people would get a lot more value out of them.pekbro wrote: Mon Jun 23, 2025 12:28 am Generally, I like his presets and his appreciate his input around here, but definitely these could use some variety in the sound design dept.
