I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask for support, but a lot of people on here seem to have experience with this so I figured I'd ask. I'm running the 64 bit version of Reaper on my 2017 Macbook Pro and until yesterday I had synth1 running just fine. Then I went to add a .zip bank to an instance of Synth1 and it crashed Reaper. I started a new project, tried loading Synth1 on a new track, and it immediately crashes Reaper again. It does this on both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Reaper. I'm not sure how to recover from this. I've tried removing the .zip bank from the directory it was previously in, installing older versions of Synth1, replacing the Synth1.component with a version I had saved when it was working, nothing seems to remedy this behavior.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions??

I did install the latest Reaper updates but I didn't try completely uninstalling and re-installing. I'm hesitant to do that because I have so many custom settings.
I tried loading it into my Fishman Triple Play software and it failed to load there as well.

as of v1.13beta8 (is there a newer one?) under mojave (10.14.6)
it works in hostingAU (changing presets sometimes results in a hard crash - not repeatable)
it does not work correctly in logic 10.5.1:
it validates, i can insert it but no gui - i.e.: a blank white nothing as gui
iirc it has worked well under hi-sierra - not 100%sure though...

I had an issue where the synth would work on my M1 in Ventura, but couldn't get the preset menu to stay open. But I figured it out. If, when you open it (sorry, but this is in Ableton), the device box may open with a parameter already preconfigured (if you press the triangle it opens up the configure mapping parameter). I found if you delete this configuration, you can get the menu to stay open! I only oddly had to do it once and now all is well. Hope that's helpful to someone.

The beta8 VST version has 'issues'
If your DAW does not host AU, like MuLab, then use a host plugin like Patchwork and AU will run fine and read zips, unless your DAW has a newer Xcode version and then the VST GUI will be blank. Thus, be sure to use the '10.14' Xcode version of Reaper.
Synth1 is a bit crashy when opening preset banks, but you can try the popup window, the up/down button, and the DAW plugin editor, etc to find the workflow that works.

I'm using Ableton and on Mac OS Sequoia and whenever I try to open up Synth1 the UI is just blank. I don't see any UI but I can play notes with my computer's keyboard. Please if anyone knows how to make it so I can see the UI I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Usually, if the window opens, but the GUI is missing, it's because it relies on Carbon which was removed ages ago. I didn't even realize that the old VST version made it to 64-bit. The newest version is AU only. Boo.

The developer is not responsive.
Another option for all 'Carbon synths' is to host in an old version of Blucat Patchwork and route using their Connector.

I always got the sense he is the shy, retiring type, embarrassed about his code. Considering how fantastic it sounds, nobody cares. We just want a working plugin. I'd say give it to the Surge team, but they've already got so much on their plate...

Surge Synth Team attempted to contact Toda-san many times, with zero response. Oh well. We would've been on it at the drop of a hat, otherwise!
