He wastes his time with gfx gimmicks on github instead of updating und bugfixing Vital!
You wasted our time with this awful take

I think the problem is, some people did pay for the plugin (or even paid/are paying for the subscription). So it’s not free for everyone and there were some promises about updates and bug fixes especially for the pro or subscribers if I understand correct.

So it is a bit confusing maybe because of that.
Some people who paid might feel they did not get what was promised. Maybe that’s the case?

And some people who paid for it, have had some bugs and no fix to those bugs. So that is sure frustrating naturally. Especially when the synth is so promising and it seems those bugs are not for everyone if I remember correctly.

I think the main concern I have is future support. As operating systems and hardware/tech changes, we need code to be fixed/recompiled for newer systems when necessary. Without an active dev, we have less of a guarantee (there's never a full guarantee) that what we're using now will be usable in the future on new systems.

i've been using vital (which i bought) since it dropped, on every version of logic pro/mac os since, and all is well. so not going to worry about 'the future' until a non-working vital future gets here (IF that happens).

It will happen and what you are doing is fine but people who don't know how to use Vital should invest the time somewhere else. 1 -3 sentences from the dev/company could change this POV but its probably out of his hands as some company could of purchased the IP

The same could be said of basically any piece of software even from big developers

Edited to fix typo

my 2 cents
I changed software for certain tasks like synths compressors, eqs, etc. lotsa times over the years and found out that everything is exchangable. Some better than others.
All of them gave me means to create my music.
I really like Vital.
There are things about the sound and the workflow that does it for me.
When Vital will not work for me anymore then I will use something else.
It wil be like an old guitar that I don't have anymore.
Gone.
These days we have tons of good quality options and a lot of them are even free.
I don't hold my breath anymore about if something could break.
ABX is enemy to GAS

Exactly. Can’t count times when paid plugins or any other piece of software was abandoned.

The developer wants everyone to stop talking about his software, I am sure it pisses him off that videos are still being made about it. Honestly, the fact he let it go on this long and still is taking peoples money means no matter what happens I will never purchase his future software and I am sure many feel the same.

He made a free piece of software, that software currently works very well on Windows, Mac, and Linux

Anyone that wants it can download it for free. You can also buy preset packs and extra Wavetable content if you choose.

The Wavetables can also be exported into another Wavetable Synths if you so desire

Not sure why it's so offensive that he is selling preset packs and wave tables for his free synth that he still has available to download? If someone wants to download the free synth and use it, should they not be allowed to buy extra Wavetables and presets for it? That sounds rather silly that people think he shouldn't

If you choose to buy it, the "pro" version of Vital costs $80. Even in late May in 2025 that is a tremendous bargain considering that other similar Synths costs hundreds more

I really don't understand all the hate. As a Windows user who uses the VST3 version I fully expect to be able to use the current version of Vital for many years to come, decades probably if I wanted

It's simply not going to turn into a pumpkin at midnight or something

If I was an Apple user I might be concerned that it might stop working in a few years, but that's an Apple issue and anyone using Apple products needs to plan for Apple's planned obsolescence and that applies to all of their software not just vital

It's the best $25 software purchase I ever made.

Look, I didn't pay, so I have no skin in this game. My only point is: if you're new, don't waste your time, and most importantly, don't pay for Vital as it's a dead project. Support the active devs out there (free and paid) before you drop countless hours learning something that's dead—SurgeXT, PhasePlant, Serum 2, Serum 1, U-he. Also, I don't care, but I'm pretty sure he started charging for Vital with the pitch being "updates, new features, etc." Three or two sentences on Twitter by the dev and I wouldn't have this viewpoint. Keep in mind this is only advice to newcomers: use whatever you need to make music, and who cares if it's a dead project.

any developer can shut down; look at dear reality. meanwhile, vital is working now, & is pretty awesome. i will use it as long as i can, and IF, one day, it no longer works... i'll use something else. simple, really

...And I wonder how those who bought the Dear Reality bundle feels now, when it is given away for free.
