I'm looking at a few months in bed after surgery and looking at smaller music hardware I can use comfortably while laid up and landed on getting the Yamaha Seqtrak.
Had an incredible time night one, tried to figure out as much as I could without the instructions and was able to generate some basic fun EDM grooves.
It's a great argument for simplicity in your hands but hooking it up to a device with a screen gives you so much more options for sound design and it's sound banks have more depth than some higher end Yamaha keyboard.
Only thing that really bothers me is that you can't chop samples as far as I can see which seems like an odd omission.
Are there any other owners on here? How do you like it?

I have had one a couple of months and have yet to fully learn it all but so far I really like it, although it does have a few quirks. I don’t care much for the keyboard; you really need a midi keyboard to get proper results – I plugged in a Novation FL mini and it works nicely.
The build quality is not as bad as everyone seems to make out and I don’t mind the side buttons either. The sounds are superb. Another point everyone seems to moan about is using it with an app; but this is another plus point to me – The ability to have a more in depth control over the sound designs patterns etc really adds to it and everyone has a phone with them these days so what’s the issue. I have also used it just as a sound module paired with outboard equipment and it works well.
It doesn’t seem to get as much love as the other grooveboxes out there which is a shame.
The ability to chop samples would have been great – I was hoping to see some updates from Yamaha to add features people have asked for – I get the feeling they’re not rolling these out often though.
Good luck with the recovery – I hope your Seqtrak provides a fun distraction.

I just bought one from Andertons for 169 if i remember it was 450rrp. I think ur right dumping old new stock. Least they fixed most of the bugs added a few features. Can,t see them being much cheaper. I think it will fit in with my Polyend tracker and Cs Reface. Both the tracker and seqtrack can sample each other??. Quite similar it will be interesting to see if i can use something like this live
