A few yeas ago installed Acoustica on a new computer: i/, M2 etc. Acoustica worked fantastically fast. But with Windows upgrades it has become slower and slower, and now has become useless.
It tekes 20 secondas to open, says "Initializing". Opening and closinf a file without saving takes 6 seconds. Starting to apply effects chain also takes 20 seconds. ETC.

Has similar thongs happend to anybody else?

Have you tried reinstalling it? What else is running on that Windows computer?

Post

Have you checked to see if there have been any program updates since you first installed it?

No issues on Mac M3 here. Have you filed a support ticket with Acon? I’d also recommend asking mods to move this post to the KVR Acon Digital Forum, you can click on the “!” at the upper right of a post to contact a moderator.

It still opens instantly. Something is borked on your box.

I contacted Acon, no reply. AND it's the ONLY app that behaves this way, everything else works normally.

Got wiser. Does anyone have problems with ASIO and Windows ordinary sound drivers? Acoustica's problem is triyng to use ASIO and it's not allowed to do this any more - Win upgrade about 1 year ago caused this. I give up.

No probs with starting here (Acoustica PE v775), ie starts immediately.
Win10 22H2 \ ASIO (old MAudio delta driver)
Actually i see that it starts even more quicker a bit than my old Winamp lol (i't no joke)
And this is one of reasons why i liked Acoustica, among for example Adobe Audition, which somewhere more powerful in some scenarios, bot too slow for starting. So for quick edit tasks \ input recording \ sample analyse etc i prefer Acoustica.

The only thing, this is at Win10, and i'm afraid, maybe some probs at Win11 ? A did not migrate yet, and heard sometimes that 11 has some bad things which has affect to performance during work with audio. Hope this just rumors.

@Ola what Win version do you use ?

Acon Digital reply? Don’t you know they are a small company and on vacation. At least that is what Nils they told me.

I’ve seen similar slowdowns after recent Windows updates, so you’re not alone. Try updating or reinstalling Acoustica and check if background apps are slowing it down, that sometimes fixes the lag.

Someone asked about ASIO drivers in Acoustica. I wish just to report my own experience with that.
I use Acoustica with a Yamaha interface, and I was having some difficulties with the Steinberg-Yamaha driver. With that driver, after I started Acoustica (even the latest version) and I opened for the first time a file, after pressing the Play button it took about 6 seconds for the actual playing, which was a bit annoying. The next files experienced no delays in the playing.
I changed my driver to FlexASIO - I have been using the latest version, which is FlexASIO 1.10b.
Now, in about 1 second the first file starts playing, And, again, for the next files the playing is immediate. I haven't had any issues with Acoustica with respect to the FlexASIO driver.
My computer runs on Windows 10 Professional, and is relatively quite fast, with a Xeon 6-core/12-thread processor.
