Maybe we should do the reality check on what to expect from “major updates”. For sure not an equivalent to v8, v9, v10, … feature-wise.

Thanks for the clarification although I was kind of hoping for some untapped performance at some point.stanft wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 5:27 pm Studio One has been supporting multi-core for ages already - both on MacOS and Windows.
Still, based on my testing Studio One IS already very cpu efficient so no complaints on that score.

They sure do hide it asway- 6 Gig Romper download I'm having a look now but I uninstalled the others, I just have that type of thing covered 10x over...Velden wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 5:05 pmYou're right. I kind of did remember something like that too, but I couldn't find it this time.Crossinger wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 4:50 pm I didn’t check it yet, but you probably have to go into your my.presonus account and “claim” it. At least that was the case last time.
You have indeed to go to your account, Products and "open" Studio One Pro 7. There it is hidden and you can claim it. I don't know why it doesn't show up with the other "Products" at the entry level, with Deep Flight One or Lead Architect...
Edit- installed, not showing up, must be some other cryptic step...it was 'studio one' menu - then installation- then install (even though you already did!) then restart S1.
It is (as expected) exactly the same as all of the others but with some bass centric samples.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I suspect once you try the Continuous Cursor option, you'll realize it's the thing you never knew you always wanted.
Improved Multi-Processing Performance for Apple Silicon may be a big deal, depending on how improved. There's been quite a bit of discussion about how Reaper achieves near perfect total CPU efficiency evenly across all cores, while Logic and Studio One didn't utilize the efficiency cores at all.
So if Studio One is operating at Reaper level efficiency on Apple Silicon, that would be a big deal. Even if it only reaches Cubase 14 level efficiency, that would be a significant development for Studio One.
Other than CPU efficiency improvements, the only thing I really care about seeing from Studio One still is revamped automation that uses part containers that can be moved around and reassigned to different plugins/parameters.

Having tried the existing new romplers, I have to say that soundwise, they are not my cup of tea. A new updated version of Mojito would have been better than a new bass rompler I think.

Great to see the changes to Audio Punching, but we still need a Postroll buffer that acts similar to Pre-record audio input.
Continue recording the audio until it reaches the Postroll marker, but maintain the clip length within the bounds of the selection range. This allows the user to manually adjust the end point of the clip until it reaches the Postroll marker when it's necessary. That's helpful if you sing or play a longer note toward the end of the punch-in range, you have the option to manually adjust the end point slightly rather than it cutting off.

Hi.! That £79.99 deal - it's for the '6-month only' offer/malarkey isn't it.? Best I've seen it go for is £84.00... Think it was on the Thomann site... Well anyway, defo not interested there.dastewart wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 5:25 pm I see I can buy a v7 perpetual licence for £99.99 or I can upgrade my v6 licence for £79.99.
FWIW, I have seen the full v6 to v7 perpetual license upgrade for £94.14 in the Presonus shop itself. Maybe about as good as it will ever get...
Still ok with v6 here, for anyone asking...

Every time I update Studio One, I lose my Customization presets, because they are stored internally. There is no way to import/export Customization presets, either, so you have to recreate them from scratch each time.

I was so annoyed when V7 was announced that I decided to have a serious look at other DAWs and spent some serious time with Reaper which I felt met my needs the best.
The showstopper for me was its performance when compared to S1 because when I stress tested it using the plugins that I use and the virtual instruments that I use then S1 was about 30% more CPU efficient, i.e. I could add about 30% more tracks before it started to sputter and render times for identical projects were about 30% quicker in Studio One.
I say 30% but it may have been higher, I actually forget but it was at least that.
I'm not going to try and explain it, and not going to disagree with anybody who found different results but that stopped me looking around at other DAWs and I'm sticking with S1 v6 until something better comes along. And that includes v7 which has nothing of any real interest to me.

I did some tests using efficiency cores in 7.2.
Interesting results.
Compared to some measurements I did just before updating, I'm seeing near identical CPU usage in Studio One's CPU Performance meter...
...BUT... in a test song that produced crackling and drop-outs at 96kHz in Studio One 7.1, the meter is going right up to 100% CPU usage with no dropouts or crackling in 7.2 now. The CPU History graph in macOS Activity Monitor is showing the Efficiency cores being used, and CPU usage is fairly evenly distributed across the cores, and still shows some headroom.
So there is definitely some performance gain, but it looks like Studio One's CPU Performance meter wasn't updated to take the enabled efficiency cores into account.
Hopefully we'll see an update that more accurately shows your true CPU headroom in the CPU meter.
