Well most SY samples are 48khz. The Waveblade file Airy is original G3, Styroll = C3. From this Waveblade file it is possible to export the wave without the looping. @sheaf I can sent these to you so you have an idea of the sound.
The SY99 audio rom has not the SY formatting like the SY55/77 = only wave and without the info about the starting points etc. These are on a different location in the System file. That is why Brian has these not available for the Waveblade.

Quick question: in preparation for the release of SWAY, I've been doing some shifting and searching for the waverom and so far I've found what seems to be a waverom dump of the SY77, however nothing about or from the SY99. Said ROM dump is about 524kb in size. Is this the right size, and is this what's to be used within SWAY in order to get the OG samples as well as the exclusive sounds?
Thank you in advance for any and all help!

As far as I remember, the SY99 had 8 MByte of Wave ROM with improved piano samples and additional waveforms. So it seems to be maybe the OS ROM, but not the Wave ROM, that you found. I haven"t found an SY99 Wavr ROM dump yet...

Is there a way to extract it from my SY99?

That would be a bit too close to just taking the sample I think. I'd prefer to create every sound from scratch without utilizing anything from the original, to stay clear of any potential copyright issues.IvyBirds wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 5:13 pmIf you have the samples in isolation you can load them into the Spectral Engine of HALion7 or the free Steinberg version "X-Stream"sheaf wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 3:02 pm Right now I'm a bit stuck on the recreation of 2 samples: #88 Airy and #89 Styroll. No idea what they're even supposed to be. What's a styroll? I just can't seem to make anything that's even in the same ballpark for these two.
That will resynthesize it and you could then sample your new synth patch that uses syntheses
The samples are only nominally 48khz. Most of them are tuned down about 7 semitones, leading to an effective sample rate of 32Khz. I have a TG77 so I know what the original samples sound like. I just don't know how to recreate these particular ones.teaser wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:36 pm Well most SY samples are 48khz. The Waveblade file Airy is original G3, Styroll = C3. Yeah, Styroll is supposed to be B3 but it sounds like it's pitched up from how it's originally recorded.JK1974 wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 8:40 pm I checked it on my SY99, and both samples sound to me like samples recorded at a low sampling frequency, maybe having the right pitch at C2 and not C3. "Styroll" sounds to me like a styrofoam ball (shaked) in a plastic tube, while "airy" sounds to me like a model aircraft mixed with bottle blowing...
BTW: Will there be an option to extract the samples from the original WAVE ROM file of an SY77? I have seen some files intended to be used for the Waveblade extension at least from the SY77 (and SY55), but not (yet) from the SY99.
There will be no option to extract and export samples. It can just read the ROM files and utilize them.

Resynthesis is fair game, I think.sheaf wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 9:45 amIf you have the samples in isolation you can load them into the Spectral Engine of HALion7 or the free Steinberg version "X-Stream"

Well both fx processed samples. Listened to some Air sound effects, something like balloon air out or bus break but not exact.. Styroll perhaps Steam Roller like sample, through the FX.

Well darn. Let's just hope someone's willing to actually dump the ROM sometime. Strangely there was an audio "dump" of the SY99 wave ROM on SoundCloud.JK1974 wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 6:31 am As far as I remember, the SY99 had 8 MByte of Wave ROM with improved piano samples and additional waveforms. Not betting on anything to be accomplished by doing this, but I sent the dude a message to see if there's any dice on acquiring the raw ROM dump/binary.

Update: it is a waveROM, however it just only seems to be some rhythm section of the SY77.JK1974 wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 6:31 am As far as I remember, the SY99 had 8 MByte of Wave ROM with improved piano samples and additional waveforms. Just a question : What about making absolute else FX sounds ? Or something between "far" and "exact", some "Airy" evocation, and some "stiroll" evocation ? Anyway : some patches like "cricket..." will behave different with Sway samples, from with real PCM ROM. And this would be more far from original, thinking about copyright issues with Mohoyo.I'd prefer to create every sound from scratch without utilizing anything from the original, to stay clear of any potential copyright issues.

sheaf, how is work on sway progressing? For me, sway is the by far most anticipated piece of music software since a long time. I'm sure I'm not the only one ...
I understand you're still working on recreating the last ROM samples. But may I suggest that in the meanwhile you could already give beta-testers access to the current version. Even without the full sample set, they could already start testing this beast functionally and UX wise. This could speed up things a little bit.
I'd be glad if you could take this into consideration. Thanks.

I'd be glad if you showed some common sense and quit counter-productive nagging. Thanks.Fette Töle wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 10:00 am sheaf, how is work on sway progressing? For me, sway is the by far most anticipated piece of music software since a long time. I'm sure I'm not the only one ...

+1. @Fette Tole: I'm not sure you've read through the thread, but Sheaf has had some pretty major challenges come along, unrelated to the creation of Sway. I would be glad if you were more sensitive to this. Plus - this is a major amount of work, and he's got to have other things on his plate.
I wouldn't have a nag on my beta team, if I was in a development role. I do formal QA of pretty much all types for a living, with at least a couple of decades of experience, and that is the very last person any dev I've worked with would want to hear from. Just saying.
When I get involved with doing beta testing, I bend over backwards to be friendly, non-judgemental, and especially not pushy, but provide every detail possible to recreate a specific problem.

That ^^^ is the hot tip. Absolutely legit option. There's enough interest in this, that I'm betting any number of people would be willing to do the "resynthesis" for you, with the tools they have, were a link to the 'original' ROM/soundbank provided. Aside from those mentioned above, there's also Dawesome Myth or the free Zyklop, Madrona Labs Sumu, Sonic Charge Synplant, to name a few. Any of these will capture the 'essence' of the sound, and combining two or more might prove interesting/worthwhile.EvilDragon wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 11:07 amResynthesis is fair game, I think.IvyBirds wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 5:13 pmIf you have the samples in isolation you can load them into the Spectral Engine of HALion7 or the free Steinberg version "X-Stream"
And then... there is an offer:
