Logic Pro 11.2(.2)

I've been pulling apart old cassette mixes of originals from the late 80's-early 90's, and adding compression, reverb, delay. Breathes new life into the songs, which were recorded with 2 cassette decks (remember those?). Can even hear the creak of the kick pedal. Voodoo.

Why would you mic the kick pedal?
Silly question, as I only just updated to Sequoia and got the Logic update (my fears of OS bloat seem unfounded), but does AI need to be turned on in the System Settings? I currently have it off.
I have some old stuff I'd like to remix, but the stems went to that great bitbucket in the sky...

I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better?

No idea. I just choose 'stem splitter' in LPXI. I don't have SIRI turned on (hopefully, never will). The results are excellent albeit still a bit limited. One of the songs I broke down put one of the guitars separately from the others, and in most other cases, it doesn't. Still very useable. Doesn't separate vocal harmonies, either.syntonica wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 7:14 am Why would you mic the kick pedal?![]()

Sorry for an off-topic question, but I would appreciate any help. Is anyone using 32" 4K monitor for Logic Pro? Is the monitor usable without any scaling and just using full native resolution? I want to upgrade from my 27" QHD/1440p monitor to increase screen real estate and thinking about 32" 4K as a best compromise. Not looking for retina/HiPDI quality, but hoping to have the same quality as with my 27" 1440p monitor, which I use without scaling at its full native resolution.

No, it’s not tied to OS AI.syntonica wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 7:14 am Why would you mic the kick pedal?![]()

Thank you. How would it be at 2160p for someone younger?Bombadil wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 2:08 pm I use an LG 32” monitor @1440. Perfect res for my old eyes.
If it is not too much too ask, photos of Logic Pro at 1440p and 2160p would be much appreciated. My sole intention is to increase screen real estate as long as it is decent enough to see things. I can always resize plugins as needed.

Speaking of resolutions and screen size... As much as I loved my old 27-inch 5K iMac, I like my 4K 24-inch LG more. I found my head and eyes moved a lot more with the wider screen. I run at default magnification and it's fine, despite crappy eyesight.

On gearspace people are reporting projects not loading plugins properly after they've been saved in this version of Logic. I've only loaded projects, so haven't experienced any issues myself.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

I have a 32” 4k LG for logic, but I can’t use it at the full 4k resolution because it’s too damn small. It’s like a DAW for ants. I had to shift it down one notch on the resolution (can’t remember what it was). Strangely I couldn’t use the hdmi output for that. I had to use USB-C to have that resolution option available. I’ll check later.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 1:53 pm Sorry for an off-topic question, but I would appreciate any help. Is anyone using 32" 4K monitor for Logic Pro? I have a 32" 4K and I wouldn't use Logic at full resolution (3840x2160). Everything is too small.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 1:53 pm Sorry for an off-topic question, but I would appreciate any help. Is anyone using 32" 4K monitor for Logic Pro? One step bigger (3008x1692) is doable.
Another step bigger (2560x1440) feels the most confortable for me.

Thank you so much for your answers to my 32" 4K monitor/display question.
At least good to know one step bigger is doable, and it would still offer increased screen real estate I am after (than my current 2560 x 1440 monitor).
The only worry I have is if I end up using 2560 x 1440 with 32" 4K monitor, I won't see any benefit of real estate and I guess I won't gain anything in terms of visual improvement compared to my existing 2560 x 1440 monitor, which is very comfortable for me and the type of visual comfort I am aiming for with 32" 4K with added screen real estate.
Does 3008x1692 look blurry or the quality is still as good as native resolution?

At 2560x1440 I see 25 horizontal tracks at default size and 33 tracks in the mixer.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 4:02 am

At 3008x1692, 30.5 and 40.
At 3840x2160, 40 and 52.5.
If you use it at 2560x1440 I don't think you would gain real estate but you would gain definition. If I put my 4K at 1920x1080 everything is way more define than on a real 1920x1080. It still feel a 4k monitor... it's just that everything is bigger...
But if you are coming from a 2560x1440 I don't know if the improvement worth the money.

It is still as good. No matter the resolution you chose it will looks sharp. Even at 1504 x 846. It is just the scaling that changes.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Fri Jun 06, 2025 4:02 am Does 3008x1692 look blurry or the quality is still as good as native resolution?

Thanks! So good to know. Now I won't have to side-eye it for six months like I did the Sequoia update.Ploki wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 2:47 pmNo, it’s not tied to OS AI.syntonica wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 7:14 am Why would you mic the kick pedal?![]()
