Just wandering the net and i found a place where i can get cheap download version of a couple of good packages.

They are:

* Magix Audio Studio 2004
* Magix Mega Mix

Both legit e-version downloads, can also be gotten direct from magix also.

One appears to be a pretty decent multi-track audio editor with a decent sounding feature set. The other is a MP3 DJing tool.

Any comments? I didn't find demos anywhere otherwise i'd try them myself.

not played with the two specifically but in the past ive found magix to be good at what they do
dont suppose you wanna order the music studio 2005 and ill buy it off you when i get paid

but weriously,wait n see what others say but magix are ok here

I can recommend Magix Music Studio 2004 as I own it. Imo, it is worth the price for the native synths you get with midi studio. The program is split into two programs actually, there is the audio studio (which is a knock off of Samplitude) and the midi studio (which is a knockoff of Logic). I've been using tracktion, but I still use midi studio for midi editing and its native synths(non-vst). Imo, it is worth the price for the native synths you get with midi studio.

Thanks for the help, but this is a standalone program without MIDI i believe. I did see the Music studio but it more expensive and i don't need that stuff, i wanted a simple multitrack audio editor. It looked pretty good.

However, the DJ software looks great, can anyone comment? Its got multi card support, live sampling/looping pads, built-in FX, directx plugin support, bpm detection, 10 band EQ, MIDI control and more.

I can get both for about £45 including VAT i think, thats a lot of value for money.

I have Magix Music studio 2004, I don't like it, don't use it, I haven't even installed it since my last formating.
You can have it, box and all, for $30.00+SH if you want.

Many thanks for the offer, very kind, but i'll leave it.

I used to impulse buy everything cheap, trying to avoid that now, and just get what i really want and no more. I don't need the MIDI stuff and frankly i could do without the box!! Sounds daft, but in my cramped room in shared house of 6 space is like gold dust

I don't want to push the salad, but with music studio you get the 2 separate programs, audio studio AND midi studio. Just don't use Midi studio if you don't need it.

Offer appreciated, but no thanks

Just finally found a demo download for this DJ package, if it works i'll report back. Always good to have another budget solution for digital DJing

I tried the DJ package, its pretty crap. Awful GUI design on many levels, and justfeel amateurish and nasty.

Would anyone care to comment on Magix Audio Studio 2004 download version? I can get it for about £20.

Audio Studio is very powerful (based on Samplitude, check out ttoz's posts about the audio engine), probably better than any of the other "lite" audio editors (Sony SF Audio, Wavelab Lite). However, the learning curve to MAS is very steep indeed IMO.

MAS 2005 (european edition, US versions are a year behind) has even more features, including track freeze and some mastering fx. It's not available for download afaik.

I agree. The object oriented manipulation, combined with the good sounding audio engine, makes this a winner. Although, the 2004 version will only record at 16 bits. You could record in tracktion and port the files over to magix, but what's the point if you have tracktion?

Thanks for the advice. Worth pointing out that i am not interested in multi-track recording, but more using it as a fine editor for audio and a multi-track loop-mangling aid etc.

It seems like it'd be a good buy for £20, but just need to be sure.

One other thing - can i do graphical envelope editing of VStor built-in FX parameters, volume and pan etc?

Sorry for all the questions, haven't come across a demo yet.

Audio Studio is very, very good. If you happen to like the MIDI studio part of the package, it's (just) pretty good. MIDI studio works, it gets the job done, and it has solved certain sysex problems for me, but that's all I can say for it. I use FL and eXT mostly for MIDI.

But for *audio* work, Magix Music Studio (the Audio part) is outstanding. It's worth the price of the package.

Don't pay full price for the 2004 version. That's selling for $20 now. The $80 2005 version is current.

Also, the pros who use Sequoia/Samplitude, they love it.

Untrue. The MIDI part of the package is crippled, but the Audio part will do 24 (32) bit, 96kHz recording, editing and rendering.

2 Magix packages, are they any good??
