And treated like an unwanted stepchild. Just as everything Apple acquires (such as Logic in general).
Sucks a lot.
And this is coming from an Apple/Logic user.

Was it necessary for them to go out of business though, why not start a new company. Seems like they just retired with all the cash - that's on them - more love of money than plugins.

They're not out of business. They're now working and paid for/by Apple - which is pretty much the polar opposite of being out of business.

Okay, fair enough but not releasing anything else new for any other platforms - ah I guess that's the rob - but still nothing new for mac folks?

They have as well been re-releasing some of their FX stuff - but again, it's exclusive to Logic.
This is the way it goes in Apple land. Once they hire you, you're not allowed to do anything related outside of the Apple world anymore.
Usually it's also that they're doing other related stuff within the Apple ecoverse. So, while never publically said, it's very likely that the Camel Audio coders might now as well work on some other FX (or functions) inside Logic, Garageband and Final Cut (because that's often using the same or similar FX for it's audio part). Oh, and iOS will likely be a part, too.

Happened to the entire Logic team back then. Before they were sort of independent developers, now they all have exclusive contracts with Apple. You also don't see them participating in any kind of public discussion formats anymore. It's *the* real life example of a walled garden.
