I'm a bit torn on getting this before the sale ends. I already have the XV-5080 plugin, but I never liked its UI for editing the sounds. Zen's UI is much better (imo). I'd also like to get all the extra sounds available that the XV-5080 doesn't have.
My issue against getting it is that at $99, I could get something with more features. MassiveX and Battery 4 (Komplete Select Beats) e.g. is $49, or the upgrade to Icarus 3 which has tons of options/features.

My take is that you don't buy this for synthesis capabilities.Examigan wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 1:32 pm My issue against getting it is that at $99, I could get something with more features.
^^^ You buy it for this -- thousands of Roland "tones"jdoo wrote: Sat May 10, 2025 11:51 pm So in total - there are
4107 Tones
109 Drum Kits
4246 all together.... but i was quickly counting, didnt confirm any of this
FWIW, Roland Cloud offers a 30-day trial membership and ZENOLOGY Lite is free with a Roland account.

I was in exactly the same position (own 5080) but but did buy it for the editing, the extra presets (and ability to add more) and the browser.- its actually a good GUI and and enjoyable editing experience- its clever how the 4 panels change with the top selection- all filters or just 1 voice etc, I like it. I already have the other synths you mention (well, Icarus 2) and TBH there isn't much left for me to buy in the VST world (that I want)Examigan wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 1:32 pm I'm a bit torn on getting this before the sale ends. Current was the last 99 USD synth I bought, and that was well worth it- I put it above Zen, but 99USD for Zen is fair vale, you get 'Roland' in a box without the fiddley skeuomorphic GUI and a browser that actually lets you find things! Also, Zen seem to be getting supported (updates, packs etc) and is obviously where Roland are heading- the rest of the stuff will probably just get dropped over time...
It is a pity they didn't do it as an upgrade for us 5080 owners (maybe we can sell the 5080, I am never sure with these lifetime keys from being a subscriber) as Zen effectively does replace it.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I heard you can sell a lifetime key if in the EU, but not in the states (where I'm located).SLiC wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 3:29 pm It is a pity they didn't do it as an upgrade for us 5080 owners (maybe we can sell the 5080, I am never sure with these lifetime keys from being a subscriber) as Zen effectively does replace it.

You can only sell the lifetime keys you buy.Examigan wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 4:14 pmI heard you can sell a lifetime key if in the EU, but not in the states (where I'm located).SLiC wrote: Sat Jun 07, 2025 3:29 pm It is a pity they didn't do it as an upgrade for us 5080 owners (maybe we can sell the 5080, I am never sure with these lifetime keys from being a subscriber) as Zen effectively does replace it.
The ones you get from the p4l are NFR and seen as rewards/gifts.

The $99 price is one of the better deals you’re likely to ever get from Roland.
Something which hasn’t been said is the older Roland romplers applied varying forms of file compression to the sounds, in order to fit more sounds into less memory. Zenology doesn’t need to do this, and some of its sounds appear to benefit from that. Though I’ve never taken time to figure how much of any difference is down to better FX VS raw sample quality.
Roland also appear to have been tweaking stuff, in their recent updates, without much acknowledgement. EG My launch time (from a cold boot, so no pre-cache), with the Zenology 2.04 VST3, is now consistently below 4 seconds. Pre-cached it’s more like a 2.5 second launch. High launch times only happen when you keep things installed for which you don’t have a license. So always uninstall these at the end of any rental / demo period. Otherwise the times are more than decent now (at least on Mac OS.)

I didn’t get it yesterday, but for whatever reason, the sale is still going now.
It was supposed to end yesterday evening.

most likely extended due to poor sales numbers.Examigan wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 8:31 pm I didn’t get it yesterday, but for whatever reason, the sale is still going now.

I'd buy it if it was on sale at JRR or Audio Deluxe.

Has anyone else noticed that the product no longer has the original price shown crossed-out and in red font with the $99 sale price next to it? It now just says $99 at the top and bottom of the page. When I hit refresh on it to see if I was seeing a cached page or something, it briefly flashed a cached version of the original page showing the regular and sale price before immediately jumping to the current page with the $99 price. Maybe this is now the permanent price?

I think you may be right, and I didn’t notice that until you mentioned it.cryophonik wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 11:01 pm Has anyone else noticed that the product no longer has the original price shown crossed-out and in red font with the $99 sale price next to it?
