TaiChi is special! But guitarists and synth enthusiasts love Strymon for it's sound. So I should try BigSky!comfortablynick wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 5:52 pmI wondered about BigSky. Sounds like the HW is well-loved but I wonder if it brings anything as a plugin I truly need. We have so many great reverbs these days I haven't even demoed that one because of the price. Agree that Tai Chi is fantastic and it keeps getting new features since I bought it a couple of years ago. I could easily get by with just the Liquidsonics/Reverb Foundry offerings.Aiynzahev wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 6:31 am Bigsky wasn't really useful enough to me to purchase. In general I find my other reverbs cover most of what I'd get from Bigsky, but I didn't give it a really extensive demo, just a quick check and I decided I didn't really like what I was hearing.
My other reverbs right now are mostly Tai Chi and Black Hole Immersive. Utopia will probably be added.
Best reverbs !?

Even though I've got a million reverbs, I still just use Valhalla Vintage the most. So much variety, low CPU, sounds wonderful. My pet peeve though is the init being full wet but locking the parameter is easy. Also love Valhalla Shimmer. Just wish one could save presets.
Much praise though to Arturia LX24, NI Raum, and og Blackhole. Love the ribbon controller for dialling in feedback/resonance. Assign that to a a release envelope in Bitwig for super cool atmospheres.

Look at this picture, do you know what you are seeing? Sauron of reverbs, your valhalla reverbs are little hobbits in comparison.
Better reverb for ambient music and score? Not even one.

but if I need different "flavour"?
does it have lexi 224/480 algo?
does it have crystalizer?
can it sounds like Strymon or Quantec?
does it have "width" control or proper "ensemble modulation"?
how many EQ bands? 3 bands? ahh ok ))

ADPTR Utopia really resonates with me. It sounds incredible and is easy to configure and just fun to use. After all these years, it's the first reverb plugin that I actually love working with. It's certainly not a do-everything reverb or realistic space creator, but for sound design, it's ultra satisfying to work with.Aiynzahev wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 6:31 am I have quite a few reverbs so I rarely buy any now. BUT I do test just about everything new that I find out about, and my latest test was ADPTR Utopia, which I originally ignored for some reason, maybe I thought it was a convolution reverb. Anyway for synthetic reverb for synths and effects on drum loops etc, it's awesome.
Then I just saw the new one from Sonic Academy, VELA and I've yet to test it, but looks pretty good too.
VELA is a very cool reverb as well. I spent a some time with the beta. Really liked it. Similar vibe as Utopia, but I didn't find it as fun to design on. I actually tried it before Utopia and thought about buying it, but ultimately decided to stick with what I was already using (mostly Minimal Swarm, Pro-R, Neoverb, Baby Audio Spaced Out, and the models in Shaperbox for when I want time-based verb modulations). Then, solely based upon my respect for ADPTR's prior works, I reluctantly downloaded a trial of Utopia expecting to trash the .vst3 file at the end of my test run. But within a few minutes, I was completely hooked. Now when I'm looking to design a specific reverb for a track (instead of just using reverb as a basic tail), it's the first thing I reach for. Went in having no intention of buying, but left knowing it was money well spent.

Interesting - That's what I'm looking for personally: a natural, non-metallic sounding reverb for my nylon acoustic guitarIgro wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 5:46 pm Copied from the other thread:

Not the fan of all the latest Brainworx offerings, but this was the perfect spot. No matter how I abused it, it never sounded metallic. Basically on the same level as Voxengo Sobor."
So Voxengo Sobor or Brainworx Aura ?

Voxengo Sobor is quite CPU demanding (I have the AMD processor. But, maybe, Apple M users won't care that much?). Though, with the latest update, you can now choose the quality of the reverb tail. Because initially, Voxengo didn't compromise on quality at all, thus, it was sort of a benchmark for me (quality wise).hotmitts wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 6:05 pmInteresting - That's what I'm looking for personally: a natural, non-metallic sounding reverb for my nylon acoustic guitarIgro wrote: Sun Jun 08, 2025 5:46 pm Copied from the other thread:

Aura is very gentle on CPU. And it has a tail modulation as a bonus (Voxengo doesn't have any modulation. Because Its main purpose was the clarity).
LATER:
I changed my my mind about FabFilter R-2. It is very awesome.
