The verb models in Aura are fantastic and lush. On the downside, I really struggle to get the ducker to sit where I want it. That's my biggest gripe about it. I also wish the EQ was multiband parametric for more tonal flexibility.

Really nice reverb though. The newer bx plugins all seem good/solid/nice but just short of great/elite and therefore rarely get used because I have other preferred options. I get why people like them and do enjoy bx's new UI aesthetic and that they seem committed to it.

Reverbs are so subjective. It's almost impossible to rate them in any kind of meaningful objective matter. For instance, some people think "dense" equals quality.. when it couldn't be further from the truth. There are so many scenarios where a really dense or diffused reverb isn't at all optimal. A reverb that sounds scattered and weird on a clap may be 1000 times better on a synth pad compared to a really dense reverb that sounds great on a clap.

Then there's modulation.. there are so many ways of doing it. Either pre or post reverb tail, or within the actual delay network itself, or within the feedback.. it all comes down to pure subjective taste. There are so many good plugin reverbs out there now that the only issue now in 2025 is to put in the work and demo them all and choose the ones you like.

I currently have 49 reverb plugins installed (I own more than 60 and a few hardware boxes). Of those 21 are in my mix template plugin folder. About 10 of them are in constant use in pretty much every project (not all at the same time though but on individual elements and as "reverb throws" on sends).

"I finally got FabFilter Pro-R 2 Reverb. And you know what? Aura still smokes it. I tested it on 909 claps and even kicks. Not the fan of all the latest Brainworx offerings, but this was the perfect spot. No matter how I abused it, it never sounded metallic. Basically on the same level as Voxengo Sobor."
Reverb is very material dependent effect, also it's a matter of taste how you want to process your CLAP with the reverb. So you can ended up using stock DAW verb or convolution verb with spring or only Early Reflections, etc.
Aura is the great "in house" algo from Brainworx. I still love 480's sound more BUT I am happy that things goes further in reverb development. It is actually a problem because iconic machines was designed by physicist and scientists.
However in the case of CLAP's and DRUM ROOMS you can drop a IR into Pro-R2 and it will create 80-95% of that IR + you can tweak it as you wish. AND you can create a gate verbs which is great for kicks and snares (with the link to the project's tempo).
I would recommend to spent time with Pro-R2 or use "proper" presets.
You can simply Google "andivax presets".

And I've quit using Voxengo products because Alexey supports invasion in my country and Voxengo pays taxes to in the country 404. Unfortunately...

I've gone full circle with plugins over the years. TB software were my first purchase after using their free offerings. Although I don't have a lot of plugins, the Toneboosters are now the only ones I use nearly all of the time. I don't think they can be beat on price, quality and depth. The reverb you could probably make it sound like any tbh.

I find Valhalla Vintage verb to be a quality reverb. Also Arturia lexicon emulation and Raum reverb from Native Instruments are solid as well. Plus Raum comes with a fair amount of presets.

Since this seems to be the Mecca of reverb I’m wondering what you guys thought of Vela? I’m the lead designer… Just interested to hear your thoughts and if you have any suggestions for improvements?

Currently playing with some shimmer type ideas and the possibility to add a host sync tempo lock for the decay so you could do rhythmic gate stuff that match your tempo.

Didn't try it yet but I obsessed with Sonic Academy Kick 3 instrument!
GUI is weird but I should try it in terms of usability and CPU load.
Sound examples are good (comparison with the Lexi/M7/Strymon)

Terrific sound. Easy on CPU.
GUI and usability can be better.
I will send my findings and feature requests.
Thank you for the great product!

The most annoying thing I found with Vela was the output gain changing every preset — and finding the level was much lower than the dry signal, even with 100% dry.

yup, VELA needs "lock" option for Output volume and other controls.
you can also right click on Output volume to change it's behaviour.
