Massive X 1.6.1 update (September 2025)!

It clearly looks like people aren't into Komplete as they used to be.

That is simply because Kompete isn't what it used to be- it's still great value for film composters/foley but there isn't so much for 'synth' people - The days of Absynth, Reaktror, FM8 etc are over. MassiveX is our last hope, and that hast had a major update since launch.

If they're giving it away, the Summer of Sound sale must be going horribly bad.
The economy is now what is used to, and I don't know if it will ever be.

They started giving it away at Thomann with select hardware in December, then they gave it away in February or so for people that had already registered certain hardware with Korg, Focusrite, Akai etc.
If they weren't already seeing a lot of people upgrading Komplete from Select, given how many they gave away before the current sale, giving away more via Sweetwater doesn't seem significant.

There's so much already in K14 Ultimate or CE, that each new version can only add a relatively small amount in percentage terms.
I'm seeing more people just updating Kontakt rather than Komplete.
Although, if you have Standard, updating that oftens makes more sense as the price differential with updating Kontakt is small.

Perhaps not 15 that NI wants people to have during Summer of Sound sale.

I am looking forward to NI "synths" this year. Not that we don't have a million already, but it would interesting to see a new synth from one of my favourite companies. Massive X V2 would be great!

I wonder what Massive X2 would bring? Given that their keyboards have polyAT, I would guess they would support that finally. And I wouldn't not be at all surprised to see them add sample playback/granular osc functions, especially since Absynth was discontinued and they aren't really doing Reaktor based products anymore.

Otherwise, if we extrapolate based on changes from Massive V1, which had a very nice and functional UI, a very flexible and comprehensive browser, 2 routable filters, full automation of controls and NKI mapability, perfect trackpad/mousewheel response and moderate touch screen friendless, to V2 which had... none of those things, I guess V2 will also look even more like Reaktor, have only 2 automatable controls, half a filter, a browser which shows you only 5 random presets at a time, and endless knobs that can not move down, they are up only in 360 degrees. And the UI will only appear on screens with SVGA or lower resolution.

I think wavetable import would warrant a Massive X2, or even Massive X²

If anything it was a jab at NI, I really don't mind the lack of wavetable import. It's a great synth despite some of its shortcomings and I'm interested in its development.

Not sure I'm getting you, but you can apply the VR (voice random) mod to pan to get stereo voice spread. Although it isn't actually random.

I would also add that I've changed my tune and am kinda glad MX doesn't do wavetable import. The selection included plus all the modifiers are enough to get basically any sound you want. Most of us probably have other wavetable synths that allow import. I don't need every synth I have to sound the same.
