So Is Zenology a sort of compendium of all their other synth models including oscs and filters from the analogue emulations? What about the digital ones like D-50?

I see it as kind of a descendant of the L/A architecture - you can trace a line from the D-10/D-50, through the JV/XV series and up to Zenology because of the 4 partial layering they all do per patch. Unlike the JV/XV though, a partial can be a VA waveform instead just of a multisample. I don't know if Zenology brings with it the patches from the JV/XP (perhaps someone else can answer that) but I do know that it brings many of their raw waveforms - some of the wave expansions are essentially SR-JV80 expansion boards repackaged. In addition to its regular filters (which I supposed could be modeled on other synths, but don't say so explicitly) the ones they do imply are modeled are labeled VCF1, JP, MG, and P5. No clue what VCF1 is but the others are easy enough to guess.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:16 pm So Is Zenology a sort of compendium of all their other synth models including oscs and filters from the analogue emulations? Alex Ball of YouTube fame put out a video last week recreating sounds from The Prodigy using a JD-990.
I tried recreating them in Zenology (and the 1080/5080) but wasn't able to find the samples he used in there. Granted, I have no idea what the hell I'm doing as I never worked with those synths before so others may have better luck.

Roland.. all their stuff is spread out all over the place and there's some overlap here and some there. Nothing all in one place if I'm not mistaken? I guess Zenology should have enough in it though to get me in similar territory to JV 1080 and 5080. I guess I should just sub for a month and have a look.

You will be able to recreate most of the jv-xv series, patches on zeno pro but not all of them .Aiynzahev wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:01 pm I am hoping to get a bit of clarification. I am looking at the XV5080 and the JV1080 on the cloud. If I got Zenology Pro instead, wouldn't that cover the same ground? What's the differences between these?
Bonus question - would there be any hindrance in me exporting Zen Pro presets and other users being able to load them? Assuming I use base waveform content.
Zencore doesn’t have all the partial routings found on the jv-xv series like ringmod and booster ( booster is essentially a hard clipper put either in between the filters or pre filter in series ) and there are different ringmod configs .
Roland stating that zencore pro houses a complete xv 5080 is pure marketing b.s.
Otoh zenopro offers better filters , osc sync , some osc fm etc..so it’s more capable .
Still , the jd990 is the best sounding of them all

And to think I had an XV-5080 & JD990 at one pointgentleclockdivider wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 7:35 pmYou will be able to recreate most of the jv-xv series, patches on zeno pro but not all of them .Aiynzahev wrote: Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:01 pm I am hoping to get a bit of clarification. If I'm designing a patch in my Fantom-S or XV-5050 is there a way to manipulate the two filters (or 4 if I use all 4 partials) at the same time from one knob?gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Dec 30, 2020 2:50 pm
Like this , 2 filters in a serial chain , modulating the frequencies independently ( each having their own lfo ) for band pass duties

There is a Cutoff control on the main UI of the RC version, but if you want to edit settings yourself:thunderkyss wrote: Fri Jun 13, 2025 8:04 pmIf I'm designing a patch in my Fantom-S or XV-5050 is there a way to manipulate the two filters (or 4 if I use all 4 partials) at the same time from one knob?gentleclockdivider wrote: Wed Dec 30, 2020 2:50 pm

One way to do that is on the Edit screen, press Ctrl and then click the Select button on the left for each partial you want, then if you move one Cutoff slider, then they all move.
