Ha! As in, making available as an automatable parameter.

They've got a nice price for MonkeyC Rewind

(I would ask if there's any general special price for Rewind for owners of Rando but maybe that's too much to ask)
Just to confirm after the discussion yesterday, my Rewind purchase with Audio.Plugin Deals went well and I got the chunky discount even as a first time user. Nice one.

As of now that is very tricky, since we rechop the sample all the time. I think that is why we decided against it: short samples could work, but longer could make Rando quit unresponsive!

Post

I see, guess it would depend on the capability of the machine running it. I'm on a reasonably high end machine and can seamlessly move the parameter during playback and seems to be fine, but can imagine it's very performance dependent.

Well we can always look into it, but you can understand that for some this could cause issues etc. Will talk to the guys

Some remarks/issues/questions :
- Steals focus from the daw, highly annoying.
- Still no global envelope settings ?
- Where can one set 'normalise' levels ? I can only find an on/off switch.
- Numerical value input doesn't work in the edit window :!:
- Changing values in edit window (for example speed %) is very finnicky in use, using 'shift' (for small adjustments) also doesn't work.
- There's no half or double tempo settings. Only the 'bars' settings which doesn't function very well when a sample isn't in bars length
- How can one change the key assignment ? Sometimes i want to put a sample on another key (or copy a key for example) but this seems impossible.
- Hitting a note only randomly opens the sample settings. Changing the settings in preferences (as recommended in this topic) doesn't help.
- Why have a graphic representation of an envelope when you can't do anything with it ?

Using Rando latest version. Win10, Cubase 14.

To be honest Rando still feels very unfinished, as it did from the beginning. I don't care about fx or sequencer, firstly i want the basic stuff to function correctly. And right now it just doesn't...

Hi, thank you for your honest opinion.

In the future, please add these items to the Requests section in Rando so everyone can vote on the importance. What you feel is important might not be for others, so it is always difficult to satisfy everyone. Additionally, we address issues based on their importance, so using Requests certainly speeds up the process.

We are working on a couple of big things, and always try to incorporate some of these smaller requests with every update, so let me see what I can do to make Rando work better for you.

By the way, when I say "team," it doesn't mean I have 20 programmers working, so please keep in mind that we try to do the best we can. We try to make Rando the best we can, but we are also quite ambitious with the features ;)

I see some good suggestions, so thanks for that.

Have a great day and talk soon,

Dennis

PS do send me an email because I would like to get some clarification on some of your requests!

Do you have a link to the requests page? I can't find it anywhere via the web.

Post

It is located in Rando!

Just click the icon for the menu (top left), click support then the Requests tab!

Post

I noticed that, but is there a way to access that page via the web? Opening a plugin to access what are essentially support webpages feels a bit convoluted.

Post

no sorry, not at this moment. If you email me I will put it in for you!

Hi Dennis,

It's pretty weird to have to fill in a request form in a plugin to report bugs or issues. And what's even weirder is that i mail to you when i send an e-mail or request form anyway. So you take all this time typing a long post to tell me here that i should mail you elsewhere. Kind of silly now is it ?

In my experience it also never works when putting multiple issues in one e-mail. And in the case of Rando there really are a lot of issues. So i decided to post here in stead of mailing you directly.

You are obviously here, responding to every post here. So it wouldn't be too difficult to answer at least some of my questions, or acknowledge at least some of the issues i posted. And perhaps some other users like to chime in also, either with solutions or confirming any issues.

Mind you, i'm not here to bash Rando. I'm here to hopefully make it better, which i assume to be your goal also.

Feel free to reply or ask any questions.

It seems like the ideal place to put feature requests and bug reports.

I've used the request form in Rando a bunch of times and seen the fixes and improvements I've mentioned come to pass. I also receive email updates when the status changes.

MonkeyC are one of the best companies when it comes to customer support in my experience.

Having this kind of thing integrated into the plugin is infinitely better than some blackhole of a web form.

I wish more companies would do it.

I think there was perhaps a mixing in that poster's list there of FRs, bug reports and general questions. Ranked FRs via an in-app reporting seems fine to me.

FWIW, one of the bugs reported there -- stealing the focus -- doesn't happen for me on latest Mac OS in latest versions of Live and Logic.

Not here to bash Rando either - doesn't seem either buggy or incomplete to me, love the sequencer (wouldn't have bought it without) and Dennis seems a super-responsive dev.

(Just my opinion, YMMV etc.)

Hi dionenoid,

I try to keep the support away from forums, because it does not allow me to get very specific about particular issues.

Also, I often ask our users if they'd like to do a screenshare so I can fully comprehend any issues and/or help resolve them.

Last, we do tackle in order of 'popularity' and that can't be measured on a forum.

"I'm here to hopefully make it better, which I assume to be your goal also."

I wrote you before that is exactly what we do; I hope that is clear by now.

Anyway, I think I have a good idea of what you are after, so stay tuned for further updates!

Dennis
