Trying to get all of my bases covered with analog emu plugins, which do you think would be the better combo? I play a lot of 80s synth-funk so this is kind of what I've narrowed down as the perfect toolbox for analog synth stuff. Of course the Repro is a prophet so I mean...a lot of synth funk history on that one. However, Diva also has a whole bunch of preset packs made in that style that sound excellent and are almost instantly usable. How about just Repro and Diva?

I'd like to hear some opinions on my choices and see if anyone is doing anything similar. What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Kameo✨

My favorite of those would be repro and legend. But Diva is the most versatile. So of those four those are the three I'd pick. I happen to have all four though.

To me, Repro is the best analog emulation to this day. Hands down. Next is Diva for the flexibility, then The Legend (not for less quality, just less flexibility). Then Obsession, bx Oberhausen, some XILS synths, etc. and TAL U NO LX, of course, as well!

You can’t go wrong with Repro and Diva. Add The Legend later (but do add it). Try out Obession and bx Oberhausen to see which style of Oberheim you like (arturia’s obxa is also quite good). Diva can do a lot of the Moog and Oberheim Sound.

I think you might want just one of these. Diva covers all you need, for example, because it doesn't recreate a single synth only, but has that "analogue feeling".
If your goal is to own various emulations and you don't want to wait, though, I suggest Repro + Legend + Obsession.
Then, there are many synths in the market... I'd go with Diva, trying other demos one by one.

Oh yeah, U-NO-LX was one the ones I definitely wanted. Love the sound of a Juno 60.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, I ended up grabbing Diva and Repro for now and I'll probably end up hitting up the marketplace forum later for copies of U-NO-LX and the Synapse Audio stuff.

TAL...

I like the sound of it, but it’s.... a little “thin” compared to other synths I have. I find myself adding effects to beef it up. Need31102, Kush TWK, Saturn2, etc. Maybe it’s just a little lifeless vs analog since it can definitely do bass or plucks or pads. I guess I’m slightly disappointed, but also haven’t dug deep and also it was $60 not $160 or something.

You’re pretty well covered with Diva and Repro for analog emulations.

I agree but I much prefer the TAL Uno LX to Diva's Juno set up. And I just love the TAL 101. Those two plus the two aforementioned U-He Analogs are about as good as it gets. Oddly though I just can't get sold on TAL Mod. I don't know why. People praise it but it just doesn't wow me. Legend, Reaktor Blocks and ANA2 are others that I find can sound amazingly analog. Oh and Korg ARP Odyssey VST. And I like Synapse Obsession and OP-X-Pro equally although they do sound pretty different.

I ended up picking up u-no-lx for $10 in a bundle with a preset pack and I can see what you mean by it being a little thin. Although at this price I would say it's worth to have anyway, it can do the classic juno bell/key sounds really well as well as general funk stabs. The bass sounds aren't as good as bass sounds I've heard on an actual Juno-60, it's missing something.

On another note: I'm surprised that I've been hearing that Obsession has surpassed OPX Pro II, OPX Pro II was one of the best analog emus for a while.

Obsession has the best oscillator/filter of of OB-X/Xa plugins. Arturia's makes up for a little less life with a lot more features (though the per voice functionality in Obsession is great) and a better UI overall. None of the others stack up to those two to my ears, though that doesn't mean they're bad, by any means.

bx_oberhausen is the best SEM filter synth, though I hear Arturia's is pretty good, too.

Diva can sound OB-Xish at times with some proper coaxing (see SWAN's presets).

TAL Bassline 101 + Obsession is my combo for analogue.

Amid interesting breakdown of all this fine soundware I'm kinda shocked to find no mention of GForce Minimonsta 2. Hands down the best invocation of synth-god imho.

Maybe its because this thread is from 1984 or something.
