Live's Rewire implementation is fan-tastico! Seamless. You can make mono or stereo channels.

Reason 3 really is alot better. Subtractor sounds better. The combinator is truely the concept that was missing a version back. It'll make coming back to a project alot less confusing.

Ttoz, I'm glad you are liking it. It really is a great app. I think people confuse the "less CPU" with "less quality". The perception is "well if it makes my CPU go to 60% then it MUST sound AWESOME!". The Prop's don't waste code and they don't waste resources.

Do I use VST's? Yes. But I certainly don't need them for every track. Does the current compressor suck in Reason? Yes, but it definitely has a cool sound to it in certain instances. Does the new compressor in Reason 3 suck? Hell no! Its awesome! Don't confuse the mastering suite as only useable for mastering. You don't have to use the stereo spreader on the master outs. Matter 'o fact, it sounds better on select tracks. Same with sidechain compression, the EQ, etc.

Moving more of these functions AWAY from external VST's rewired to Live is a good thing because the props stuff sounds good and the CPU hit is barely visible.

Can't wait for the new Combinator "synths" that people put out.

One could make the same argument for Orion

Well, I see alot of stuff posted in this forum or the instruments forum about Orions proprietary plugins which can't be hosted in any other package :uhuhuh:

How bout moving all of those conversations into "other"?

HI

I suposse if you are desperate to bring vstis into Reason you can bounce your riff (or whatever) to a wav and 'Recycle' it back into Reason.

Several of us have A/B'd the sounds on 3 and 2.5 and it sounds...beefier...filters sound better, etc.

I've comp'd them on two identical laptops with same Indigo Echo soundcards and it just sounds better. They have stated that they have made audio engine improvements and the sample playback and accuracy has been improved, so it might affect the subtractor.

I guess the only proof I have are my ears

That doesn't make sense..Orion certainly is a vst host.
Cubase has it's proprietary plugins that can't be used anywhere else.

I agree bones, move the thread to the hyde park corner forum, and call it 'Reason vs God'

Or even better, why not rename this forum 'sequencers' (as they are; 'hosts' is a bit cheeesy as a name, not as bad as 'DAW' but....Brucie, Eamonn Holmes, the holy communion..... do you see?)

I'm pretty sure that doesnt have anything to do with the Sub. Unless the Props specifically said that they did something to the Subtractor (which I doubt), then I'm sure its the same terrible synth it was in 2.5.

Nowhere near enough proof, sorry.
I wouldnt go around spreading hype about the new improved Subtractor until the props say it themselves.

If you talk about Ultran, tomcat, drums, wavefusion, screamer, etc, then you are talking about proprietary plugins. Whether Orion can host VST's or not is irrelevant. Those proprietary plugins cannot be used in any other host.

Therefore, they can only be discussed in "other".

So support for VST/VSTi, DX and ReWire [host or slave] doesn't count? In that case I suppose we can only talk about Mac software here from now on.

Dunno what forums you visit but I see plenty of discussions on hardware and stand-alone instruments at KVR's Instruments forum. If it were called "Instrument Plugins" you might have a point but as it stands, you're an idiot.

Ohh really, I have to record some sounds from the version 3 and compare it with 2.5 after normalization.

I hope its not just a "hotter" volume level.

when have you ever seen a thread devoted to discussing these?
I must have missed that.
but I will agree, if there ever has been or will be a thread on Orions prop. plugs, it should be in 'other'

I never said it was new and improved. I said:

I don't have to ask the props when music sounds good or not. I know based on what I hear.

If you have 2.5 and 3, then you can hear it for yourself. I've got em both, and I can hear the difference, and so can many others. If you don't have them both, then all you can do is speculate and throw FUD.

Have you A/B'd them?
