Just jamming with my new (old) guitar, a D’angelico SS Premier.
Played some Maggot Brain for an hour as I found some great settings for the Roland Cloud Jazz Chorus 120 amp emulation; especially liked slight distortion with a load of rotaton.

I got another wonky tune done.
After I got it done, I felt like deleting it, but after taking a break, I like it.
It's probably one of my better tracks.
It's kinda moody and ominous, but it turned out okay.
It's wierd how when I'm feeling confident my tunes turn out crappy and when I'm feeling inadequate they turn out okay.
I wish I could just enjoy the process AND the results. Oh well.
Anyways, this time I used a bunch of my weeded down VSTs and some of my 49 one-shot percussion samples.
Ever since I got rid of some of my excess plugins, it's been a bit better.
If any of you guys are struggling, just DON'T GIVE UP. The tunes might sound better later. Just keep jamming. Overdubbing is our friend. LOL

Updated the OXI one to the new firmware after I watched the into. video. I little harder than it should have been since I had forgotten about the app. I had previously downloaded.

Needed to do something with the Metal fetishist- it had been too long! So I figured out how to have it control the 2600 and routed its output into the in of MF to apply ‘corrosion’ and ‘rust’ to the 2600’s output. I think I synced the MF up to my DAW with midi so I can record in time although I am not yet at that stage. It sounds absolutely filthy, noisy, and insane when pushing the 2600 filter into self-oscillation. The only problem is I have to do all this manually and it was triggering my mouse shoulder.

So how's the reduced social media presence treating you now that it's been a few days Mjolnir?mjolnir wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 4:31 am 1) deleted my soundcloud

I also deleted my Soundcloud account a while back. I just used it for posting sketches doodles. It'll be a bummer the next time I try to post something here and the fancy player doesn't appear but I have my own website. I can post links from there and at least KVR's player will play them.
I'm considering going completely independent for my next release. No labels, no streaming, no sales whatsoever. I'll post the links on my website for whoever wants them and I'll rely on word of mouth for marketing. My engagement can't get any lower than it is now, so I figure it couldn't hurt to try. Going back to the way I did things in 2008.
I've been really busy. Trying to finish mixing my next release but I've gotten a few mixing/mastering gigs which have taken up a lot of my free time. I was also asked to perform a set at the LA Synth Expo next weekend. I don't have a set prepared but I have enough bits and pieces loaded up in my Octatrack that I should be able to pull something off.
We had a backyard cookout on Saturday with some of my LA Synth Club friends, and our old friend Debra1rlo joined us to jam for a bit.

bit of (as much as the phrase irks me) dawless jamming. on account of computer slowdown, followed by audio interface going "pop" and going off while i was trying to work out why nothing is opening anymore.
so there's some expense i wasn't expecting.

Just had my lower wisdom teeth removed so i am NUMB. I will be working/playing on two future tracks to distract myself from everything for the next few days. One is a euro rack piece that features the new Manis Iteritas Alia. Just added vst HH in DAW with heavy flanging.
The other is something that will use Metal Fetishist and I am still considering options on the arrangement with all that gritty, noisy sound.

Have a few days off as I just finished a mind numbingly long project at work so after a few days of doing literally sod all I had a play with my Mac to try and set up something like the “record what you hear” feature I used to use on Audacity on my PC when trying to record from YouTube and other apps for sampling and turned out there was something even easier. Donationware app named Blackhole will act as a virtual audio device so I can set up say Tidal to play in Blackhole then in my DAW record straight from Blackhole and use a send to my monitors or cans to hear what’s being recorded. Works a treat. Have been sampling a few things that way just to get used to the workflow even though none of them will end up on anything I inflict on the world at large.

I compared all of my analogue synths to their digital counterparts and made many recordings to share. Ok, no I didn't. I assembled more temporary modular until my final rack is built and spent too much of the day just noodling with drones.

Spent all day yesterday (and last night) downloading the latest versions of all my VST's and music software after a CPU burnout and replacement lost everything I had installed on my C: drive. Basically, a new CPU = new PC (start again). Bloody nightmare.
At least it was still under warranty.
