Ok, ok...I've been around KVR for 20 years or so, but I just bought Kontakt 8 today. (crickets...)
Is there anything special I should know about this new world? I am going to watch as many tutorial-type videos as I can, ... but other than that...anything else to look out for?

If you're used to working with earlier versions of Kontakt, you might want to choose Classic View from the View menu. Or if you stay in Default View, you can make it feel more familiar by enabling the Instrument Header.

I’ve only used the Kontakt Player (maybe they both have that option? Not sure..) but I will keep that in mind! Default View with Instrument Header on would probably be your best bet, in that case. According to ED, NI will eventually retire the Classic View.

The developer responsible for the new UI should be fired. I've never experienced such a counter intuitive and hindering UI since i use Kontakt ...

It seems NI is championing to make the wrong moves regarding customer experience and totally ignoring legacy stuff (including GUI, at this point)...

I just finished installing it this morning, so I will test it out soon.
They said I'll receive a $99 voucher (according to their site), but it might take a couple days to get to my email. Is that the normal timing for vouchers after a purchase from NI?

I still haven’t received the voucher, but I did order it on this last Saturday. Maybe they don’t process those on weekends?

Their support is a bit under resourced and I think thinly stretched at the moment with the sale going on. Best to contact them direct throught the support bot on their website Rob. It took me 11 days to sort out my Kontakt 7 license issue, but ultimately it got sorted out and I am very grateful.Examigan wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 10:14 am I still haven’t received the voucher, but I did order it on this last Saturday. Well hopefully I receive my voucher this week. It’s kind of crazy to wait so long… I never had to wait for a product like this before.surreal wrote: Tue Jun 17, 2025 4:59 pmTheir support is a bit under resourced and I think thinly stretched at the moment with the sale going on. So you never used Kontakt 6.X (pick a version, any version) I take it? I agree that v8 still needs work, but it's easily better than earlier versions.Tiles wrote: Sun Jun 15, 2025 6:19 am The developer responsible for the new UI should be fired. Nope. I entered with Kontakt 3 or 4, can't remember. And for me Kontakt 8 is the most counter intuitive version so far.
There are a few common UI UX design rules. Target leading and self explaining for example. Rules that version 8 doesn't care the slightest about. When you need a tutorial how to show your instrument ...

you can’t use the voucher right now anyway as it‘s not valid for discounted products. and anything is discounted right nowExamigan wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 10:45 am Just an fyi: their support got back
