She’s insulted that a tone-deaf *drummer* was the one who named them the Wrecking Crew, in the 60’s and still now when she’s 90.
She’s in the Hall anyway

Once upon a time I enjoyed looking at people's lists of the greatest writers who were never awarded a Nobel Prize, the greatest directors who never won an Oscar, etc
Those lists contain many a name of important artists who lost out to some who time has suggested may have been less deserving.
But, in the end, awards are not really that important. We shouldn't hold it against Samuel Beckett for having won a Nobel Prize while James Joyce did not, right?
For some reason, people enjoy watching contemporary artists winning awards.

An explanation for the kids, which likely have no idea what you're referring to:
I mean, he's from way before my time.Groucho Marx" wrote:I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.

We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

Didn't Bob Dylan get the Nobel for literature? Obama got the Peace Prize.
Obviously there is always going to be controversial - or stupid - awardees. I think Elfriede Jelinek is brilliant, but her literature award kicked up a storm among the judging panel.
However, the peace and science awards do recognise breakthroughs in the understanding of the world and the treatment of humanity, although they can be seen as a bit of a boys' school (cf Rosalind Franklin)
