There's also the BLOOM series of FX by Excite Audio & Harmony Bloom by Mario Nieto.Jakob / Cableguys wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 6:44 pm I’m quite surprised that a reputable company like UVI names a plugin "Bloom", given that there is already a plugin with the same name by Oeksound: https://oeksound.com/plugins/bloom

I agree, but I assume that UVI figured that it's OK because they're not competing products?Jakob / Cableguys wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 6:44 pm I’m quite surprised that a reputable company like UVI names a plugin "Bloom", given that there is already a plugin with the same name by Oeksound: https://oeksound.com/plugins/bloom
As an aside, Bloom (i.e., to produce flowers) seems like a better name for a delay than either a reverb or a tone shaperer/sound-gooderizer, but hey, both developers forgot to ask for my advice.

I feel I need 6 reverbs total: (1) one that excels at nice hall and room reverbs for my general purpose tracks and send bus reverbs (Valhalla Vintage Verb), (2) one for a sweet vocal and snare plate reverb (Soundtoys), (3) one that is built for crystal clear long tails (Eventide Blackhole), (4) a nice shimmer reverb (Valhalla Shimmer), (5) an IR reverb for specific ambiances (Logic Pro Space Designer), and (6) a special effect reverb (Adaptr Audio Utopia). I have way more than 5 reverb plugins, about 20 too many. I can't for the life of me see the angle for this reverb. And even at this cheap introductory price, it seems completely superfluous.

Are you on a mission? Seems so as you need to spend your recourses to steer up the issue on multiple forumsJakob / Cableguys wrote: Tue Jun 24, 2025 6:44 pm I’m quite surprised that a reputable company like UVI names a plugin "Bloom", given that there is already a plugin with the same name by Oeksound: https://oeksound.com/plugins/bloom
At least I know now that I won't buy any cableguys plugin in my life while I happily continue to buy UVI products

I posted here and then on Gearspace when I saw that UVI was active there.rasmusklump wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 3:00 am Are you on a mission? Seems so as you need to spend your recourses to steer up the issue on multiple forums
I wasn't aware that there were other plugins called Bloom before oeksound’s. That said, I still think it's not ideal when looking up a plugin in your DAW or on Google leads to ambiguous results. As a plugin developer myself, it bugs me when a company re-uses an existing plugin name, as if that's just fine.
That said, I also hadn't realized that "Bloom" was already used by others before oeksound.

Mmh, does not sound very convincing to my ears... But those are old. What do you think?

This whole name thing is ridiculous.

I totally get why they named the plugin Bloom, as this is a commonly used term for that type of reverb. e.g. check the Strymon Big Sky algos. When I read the name, I had an idea about how the reverb sounds, and when I checked the demo, my imagination matched quiet well with what I heared. So I think that this is a good name.

There was also Bloom, a delay by FXpansion but it's no longer sold.
