I got a screaming deal on this MFB Urzwerg...

This thing is a hoot and a half! It didn't come with a power adapter, so it was sold 'as-is'. I figured it needed 12v DC like other MFB devices and sure enough it works!
I also ordered a Quader PSU for part of my Serge modular. My oldest Power-One supply started generating a hum which has gotten much louder and is now audible when my studio is quiet. All of my linear supplies hum a little bit but this one had gotten to loud to be usable. Normally, I'd just get another Power-One HCC15-3-a but I want to see what the performance is like with one of these fancy switching supplies. If I like it, I may use their stuff for my other cases.

Good news / Bad news kinda day today.
The Tidbit Audio water-proof mic didn’t make it here despite tracking saying otherwise. I met with the carrier in person who said there was nothing for me, and I even checked back after they left, just 3 minutes after tracking says it was delivered. I was looking forward to this one the most.
Next up, LOM mics arrived today. They came much faster than I expected. I don’t have an immediate use, but if we get thunderstorms as expected, I’ll have these setup to record, but not sure I want to open windows or go outside.
On another plus, the cardboard cutouts for the mics is a great fit in the drawer organizer. This makes me happy.
It was 38° today. Tomorrow will be 35° with humidity.
Indoors day is something I’m looking forward too.

I'm hoping this shows up (for you), I want to hear how it sounds (from you). It's almost enough to make me want fish, almost.elxsound wrote: Fri Jun 20, 2025 12:12 am Just got notice this fun mic was shipped

Same heat wave here. Too damn hot, but I am happy it’ll cool down at night. I hate when it’s just hot all the time.

I just ordered a Novation Launchkey 61 mk IV. I'm fed up with my not-completely-functional NI Komplete Kontrol mk II.

I wrote to them on Etsy, and I can always buy again if needed, but would be great if it showed up. In the 15 years living here (wow), 3 people brought my items to my door after they received it by accident, which was super kind.
I've had more stuff go missing than those 3. Somebody keeps swiping things that my lovely other orders.

It's not happened often for me, but, shipping hassles have caused me to ship stuff to the local FedEx center so if it doesn't show up, it has nothing to do with me. It paid off last year when a very expensive new toy disappeared on route. The vendor took care of me and handled the shipping claims, but, let's just say that it chaps my hide.elxsound wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 4:28 pmNow you're making me wish I had fish too. If I can get UPS, or DHL I’m happy. DHL comes to the door and UPS knows me well.ghettosynth wrote: Wed Jun 25, 2025 4:35 pmIt's not happened often for me, but, shipping hassles have caused me to ship stuff to the local FedEx center so if it doesn't show up, it has nothing to do with me. FedEx used to be good, but now they just toss my *signature required* stuff in the lobby where anyone can grab it. Last one was a replacement 100mm lens that thankfully nobody snatched.
Otherwise, all the shipping centers are deep in industrial Bronx. Not the easiest to get to as its a $50 cab ride each way, or $80 car rental. For rare & expensive, I’d absolutely do it that way.

more seriously, fish make an array of chirps and trills, much like birds! not sure if any aquarium fish do, never kept them, but a lot of coral reef fish do, so it wouldnt surprise me in a coral set up. depends how natural fish act in aquariums?

35 today. I remember being in London in August, 2003, it was 37 in my wife's house. And I was very feverish and on the verge of being sent back to Canada via ambulance plane. My brother was getting ready to raid my music equipment if I'd crapped the bed, the fecker.
The only problem we have with DHL is that occasionally there'll be a lazy driver who just drops the notice in our mailbox and buggers off, leaving us to go to the post office to get it.
Haven't had any thieves here, yet.
I don't like UPS because if I have to return something, the shop that handles their returns is out of our way. They can also be very picky about the name on the door. All that's needed is someone who can't read non-Cyrillic script well for it to go sideways.
My new keyboard ought to be here Friday. I like the keyboard on the Komplete Kontrol, but I don't like no faders, and the sus and expression pedals not working. This had to have been a known issue, because I came across other complaints about this recently.
I'm just learning about midi CCs, lol. A genuine midIOT.

I oversee our hydroacoustic monitoring services for my company - a little niche we have for monitoring underwater noise levels and effects from pile-driving on fish, marine mammals, and other aquatic life. A couple of our meters are equipped with audio recording and I've actually considered making some sound effects from them. One of our current projects is in a busy marina on the California coast and we pick up some rather bizarre and unidentifiable noises on occasion.

I've wanted a pair of those mikroUši series since years and years, and they never have any. (pouty face) They'd be a great lite-weight combo with my little Sony PCM-M10.
