CDP works with Intel 64bit "x86_64" from 10.9, so it probably also runs under Rosetta 2

SoundThread runs well on older MacOS; I use 10.14.

SoundThread is an excellent, well-designed program with good tutorials

Also, CDP has huge documentation, that has been recently re-organised in pdf and online:

Neato. I will give soundthread a try. I've not really used cdp since my first athlon based audio computer. I always mean to go back to it but I have little patience for command lines and such. Soundthread seems like a good way to go for some of the real gems in cdp.

Thank you very much, I'm planning to use it on a future new Mac soon.

Looks like a new video on Soundthread came out the other day, showed some of the Distort category of operations, quite cool. Also mentioned progress since the last release, looks like there's a lot of new operations being added that will be in a version coming in the next 2-4 weeks.
The dev is looking for volunteers to join their Discord for testing etc, btw.

I remember this from way back in my Csound days. Glad that's over...

This would be worth to turn into a real time fx plugin collection. Most of it should run fine on todays machines…

I've been begging the universe for this for the past few decades but after many years of nerding out I now understand that not very many of the effects in CDP even _could_ be run in real-time.

Some of the basic filters and resonators/reverbs are just processing the signal in sequential blocks with no concern for whats in the surrounding samples/blocks. But A LOT of the CDP processes need to have access to points potentially beyond the current sample/block. The Waveset distortions are a great example of that.. They need to build a map of the audio data so they can 'run the process on it' (or all the zero-crossing points, for example). So yeah, I kind of figured real-time CDP would be unlikely.

BUTT, hold on... ARA. what if the CDP process could be made available on an ARA'd section of audio. Stored in a buffer, processed as you desire, sample-aligned with your DAW transport.

Initially I assume there is little desire to bring these two DSP tools together, but I like to imagine what might be possible if there were.

That reminds me, I must download PRAAT to this new fast machine.. If I could MIDI-control the Articulatory Synthesis with my fingers in real-time, I'd go back to my egg quietly.

new build, more stuff...

(OT but relevant, and it doesnt seem to have been mentioned elsewhere at KVR : RIP Barry Vercoe, author of CSound... https://cdm.link/barry-vercoe/)

Soundthread 0.4 out. Main feature seems to be new processes which rely on multiple input sounds, eg morphing and stuff. Some UI/usability improvements too, I believe.

Definitely the major update for me - v0.4 now operates pretty much exactly like I was hoping it work (essentially Jeskola Buzz's Machine View (the .net rebuild) but with CDP modules). Fantastic work from the author with this one.

I really need to get on and install this, the morphing stuff looks very interesting.
