I like it now, after trying the demo. Its not perfect, but does fills a niche. I would much prefer Halogen to Gforce's similarly priced but less useful Sem, for instance. And while I already have many DX7-alike FM synths, Halogen goes beyond them for some sounds. In particular, unique plucky things and lush pads (that don't *require* the reverb to sound good). I might buy it, as the JRR price is good versus its usefulness.

A warning though, its "point of sale" is misleading - yes its easy to make random (unpleasant) noise pesets; but "difficult as FM" to make sound good. But it *can* sound very good; and more importantly, unique.

Yesterdays rant was based on youtube preset demos and gforce's own "interface overview" youtube. But then, Vulture Culture's 2 hr in depth youtube sparked my interest in downloading the demo.

BTW, the "ring" knob (fine tune) *does* have a frequency ratio mode (vs just freq offset), making it extremely useful.

Really fun- can get some fabulous sounds.

It has crashed on me a couple of times when randomising the LFO (in Live on a Mac) but I’m sure they’ll fix this…

constant crashes , so much that it's unusable for me at the moment. really hope gforce figures this out asap

Seems too limited to me and it crashed Reaper after I tried to load it for the second time.

I've tested in Reason, Reaper, Ableton, Bitwig, MuLab, FL etc. and so far no crashes... (MAC)

Yes I think so too - has a much broader sonic range than I would have expected

Does it have other colors/ skins for the gui aside from the bright pastel green and Pink? Idk I'd want to stare long at that making patches. I'm assuming not, or not yet, if ever.

Aside from that, the sound is growing on me the more I listen to videos of it. I wasn't impressed initially.

You can assign any of the randomisation controls to a CC. I'm using the mod wheel to randomise everything atm. It's like tuning in an old radio! It's the most fun I've had with a synth for a long while. This thing is a grower for sure!
