"The elysia alpha compressor V2 is a detailed emulation of one of the most revered analog mastering compressors ever made. Utilizing the very latest in physical modeling technology with Brainworx’s exacting new model of the built-in Lehle transformer for adding pristine analog warmth, and a customizable UI optimised for today's screen resolutions, V2 represents the apotheosis of the alpha compressor concept."

From Gears place "It says on the PA product launch video - that they completely rebuilt it using their new approach to modelling. "

Very good update!

I did a shoot out b/t the updated version and version 1. For me it's sometimes better, sometimes I prefer the older one. I find i'ts brighter but not always in a good way. A little tinny. I'll probably experiment w/ turning the eq off or down.

Otoh it has sidechaining now in Studio One so that's a plus. The jury is out for me, the cpu is slightly more on the new one. Sometimes I think it has better weight on the low end and depth.

The old one had great soft clipper for saving db's on snares and claps, I've yet to check if the new one is as good in that regard.

Great update. Used the clipper a lot in the first version.

Quickly testing it, sounds a bit more open than the V1 and less muffled. TX drive adjustment is a welcome addition. Can beef up lows nicely too.

Tested it,bought it and...
There is differences:
v1 is more focused, more clean, gives feeling of tight sound.
v2 is more noisy, dirty, gives feeling of more open sound.
v1 can use more compression and still will be clean, when v2 with more compression get too noisy for my taste.
Tested on upcoming commercial track and the big surprise after 2 hours was that my best mastering fx chain was v1+v2 with 1.1 ratio instead only v2 with 1.2...
I hope this to be my last compressor this year ....i am addicted to nice compressors, saturators ,filters....can't hold myself when have the money for new plugin....hahaha :):):)
Cheers :)

How's this compared to their hardware ? Anyone with the hardware here that’s compared the two ?

It will be amazing 25 euro plugin to sounds better than 10 000 euro hardware...
Who knows, in near future plugins may start sounding better than hardware, considering how fast growth was last 10 years...

Already happened. Cytomic's Scream sounds exactly like the hardware, you can even mod it like real life, so it's only a matter of waiting for Andy to release more products, he's one the few who are actually doing it properly, as opposed to companies like PA here.
