Making music on old G4 iBook -- need advice

I recently dug out my old G4 iBook (2005 PPC version running 10.4 Tiger with OS9 mode) and for nostalgic reasons decided to make some noise with it. Rebirth works finely, yet I met with some puzzling problems. I installed Reaper v.3.78 (the last PPC compatible) and it works ok, but most VST/AU plugins of the era don't show GUIs (CM-101, DS-404, SR-202, Hornet etc). I tried then installing CMuzys from an old CM DVD, and it does start in OS9 mode -- but no sound at all, just keeps on restarting the audio engine. Back in the day I think I only used GarageBand with the thing so can't even remember after 20 years if it was a common problem. Any ideas?

Maybe use an even older version of Reaper. With the newest version of Reaper the UI wouldn't show up for Korg Legacy until I updated Korg Legacy.
