For smashing shit theres Uranium but pricey and 32bit ... and Synthmaker

You should try waves mv2. I find it quite similar to omnipressor.

If anyone is interested, Eventide's Black Friday sale is presently underway and Omnipressor is discounted to $49.00 via their website. However, a lower price can be found at various VST retail online sites.

Voxengo Deft Compressor can be aggressive. Doesn't get mentioned as much as it should

Audio Damage Rough Rider seems to punch and squat pretty hard imo

I have clean (Pro-C2) and I'm looking for attitude and harmonics. Seems to fit the bill.
Yes, I think it might be worth it indeed - I'd say the best you can do is to try the demo - and if you like what it can do I think you'll be hard pressed to find something else that does the same... and even more so at that price. (But then again you could of course go with Vulf Compressor instead, which sounds nothing like Omnipressor but costs more than three times as much right now :-D)

@everyone else: sorry to interrupt - please proceed in answering a five year old question - I'm sure the OP is holding his breath as we speak... :-D

We all benefit from the ongoing conversation. I've always liked the version in the Ultra Channel strip, and would use it a lot more if it didn't come with the CPU of all the modules in the strip. The Omnipressor plugin is on my long-term want list.

BTW, it's $50 right now. And this is the newer updated version (as of Sept 2019).

Gosh! :dog: Actually it was me who was answering a five year old question!

When I read "thread dig" I somehow assumed that this was the new post that had necromanced the thread without even checking the date - but actually it - and all the subsequent ones until one post above mine - was from 2016 too.

A clear case of instant karma - pure gold!

Does anyone can confirm, that Omnipressor's attack (transients) really should sound different with every single hit. I'm using it on electronic drums. It is a fabulous compressor, but this part makes it almost unusable if you want a stable static kick. This is my only compressor that does this.

So how did you get along with the Omnipressor, so far. :?

It is such a wicked creative plugin, awesome if want to suck and punch the living shit out of stuff. Would love to play with the hardware <3

Vulf is amazing. It does get into some of the same territory as the eventide. I've only ever played with the eventide hardware though. Vulf is incredibly aggressive and is good for making things seem, "out of control". I don't think it uses many of the same tricks as the omnipressor though. It's also pretty expensive for a plugin. The Melda Dynamics or Compressor can get pretty close with the user configurable transfer function. I'd just get the official thing though if it's got the exact flavor you like.
