Does Bitwig seem like a daw that very few people want? Kind of a rant I guess.

I would like to use it, but the CPU usage truly is higher than everything else, as OP says.

Which version are you on, and what OS? There was a fix for macos. Bitwig doesn't use extensive CPU, nobody has such issues. Only because of a bug in 5.3.10 there was an issue on mac, which was fixed.Danilo Villanova wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 2:29 pm I would like to use it, but the CPU usage truly is higher than everything else, as OP says.

Some days I absolutely love it and some days I absolutely hate it. When I'm doing any arrangement or automation work, I curse the day I bought the stupid thing. When I'm doing weird audio collages and just dragging and chopping audio, dropping new snatches of audio in its amazing.art&sound wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 9:50 pm Bitwig is my favorite DAW. There's room for it to grow sure but it is an amazing product as it stands.

There is more than one thread already concerning the drastic change in CPU usage for Bitwig on PCs. Haven't tried 5.3.10 yet and TBH, I'm exhausted by their promises of these issues being fixed. They already made me purchase a different audio interface even though the one replaced was current. Personally had to roll back to 4.x.x to get a working version and the new versions wouldn't let me install two versions as they used to.llze wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 2:34 pmWhich version are you on, and what OS? Also very annoyed at the starting nags to "install everything".

From what I gather from recent threads is quite the opposite regarding CPU it seems: viewtopic.php?p=9073557#p9073557
Not sure what you compare here though, and to what.

I just used the demo but whats the problem with automation and arrangement? It works exactly like Ableton or did I overlook something?apoclypse wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 5:30 pmart&sound wrote: Sun Jul 06, 2025 9:50 pm Bitwig is my favorite DAW. No, actually, you correctly identified the problemTendou wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 8:04 pmI just used the demo but whats the problem with automation and arrangement? Compared to Cubase, Reaper, Logic, andPro Tools, in terms of recording and editing audio tracks, the arranger view workflow in Ableton (and Bitwig) could improve in my opinion. YMMV.
Everything else, and particularly working with software instruments, I prefer Bitwig.

I am aware that's what you gathered and responded according to my personal experience to let you know your absolute is not absolute. Version 5 in multiple updates has been extremely high in CPU and bug ridden causing controller/interface/plugin crashes and other issues making it unusable. (Again, only rolling back to the last version of 4 has kept me using it.) And making another attempt at a new version of 5 has made wondering if I'll be falling for the same promise support made me here as they have before and again having to roll back.llze wrote: Mon Jul 07, 2025 7:41 pm From what I gather from recent threads is quite the opposite regarding CPU it seems

I'm also wondering now if they've been crashing their audio engine just to sell their own interface.

Hmm. No. Automation is extremely basic in Bitwig. No automation curves, very little automation editing tools except the basics on top of being very laggy. The arranger is also pretty basic. Something as simple as cut and paste time doesn't work well in Bitwig.
Ableton's arranger is maybe not as nice as Logic's or Studio One, but it does work well, automation in particular is really good in Ableton imo. Automation curves, automation warping, automation selection etc works way better in Ableton. Ableton's arranger a much better experience than Bitwig's.

Could be a dosen of reasons, can't find much evidence from the user base here at least. However, I can see from version history, that a lot of crash sources were fixed, so maybe they indeed have some issues currently. I didn't check each point release lately.BBFG# wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 1:21 amI am aware that's what you gathered and responded according to my personal experience to let you know your absolute is not absolute. Sounds bit paranoid to me. The people at Bitwig are not such scammers.BBFG# wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 1:21 am I'm also wondering now if they've been crashing their audio engine just to sell their own interface.![]()

You're obviously not paying attention then. You now have two users reporting on this thread and at least one with regular communications to support that. There are other past threads addressing this also. I won't waste time pointing out what you obviously insist on denying.llze wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 7:09 am Could be a dosen of reasons, not backed by evidence from the user base here at least.

BTW, did you notice the winky to imply humor for my last statement? (Rhetorical, please don't waste more of my time with that.)
