I have started a track with the Clap version of Odin2. It behaves weird as soon as I add automation ... the vst3 version seems not to suffer from that. Am I doing sth. wrong?

Post

Definitely a CLAP issue: automation is being fed back to the host, making it essentially useless. Stick to the VST3, it works well. :tu:

Starting some Odin tutorials a little bit in time. Here's the first one:

Thanks you Taron. Very nice video. :tu: Just a little of what Odin has to offer! I foresee big beautiful sounds :-)

I'm very curious to see what you'll cook up for this one

Nice video.
For further experiments: You might want to explore Envelope Repeat mode for exciting your exciter ... or you can even use WaveDraw as (LFO!) shape, which would allow you to draw in arbitrary spikeish waveforms which then could be used to control volume of your exciter.

I've only just figured out that Odin2 supports audio rate modulation for *everything*! So you can get some funky FM-like effects by setting Osc1 to wavetable, disconnect Osc2 from output, and use Osc2 to modulate the Osc1 wavetable position. Or turn on the delay with a short delay time, and use Osc2 to modulate the time. Or ... ?

And as a little extra-coolness you can also use the filter out as modulation source, adding yet some more intrigue to it! Quite beautiful. Love it! :hyper:

Thank you for the cool video Taron! I learned quite a bit...
Audio rate mod! Bam...

Yes, it does. Though intriguing to use it for fm, I get better/fm-ier results with the dedicated fm or pm osc. Setting them to 7/11 or other weird ratios, get's you in fm heaven/hell quickly ;-)
As Taron mentioned, audio rate modulating the filter frequency though can create some interesting results.

The spectrum draw is quite nice as well: Draw a straight line frome top left to bottom right (saw spectrum), then remove the very fundamental (left most) and add huge unisono. Add a second instance with only fundamental + osc reset ... you have clear mono fundamental and stereo width on top of that ...

Has anybody found a way to draw straight lines in the wavedraw osc? is there any hidden menu, key modifier that allows for lines?

Edit: In the mean time I found out how wavedraw is embedded into the .odin files. May be I try to LLM some code together that can inject interesting lfo shapes ...

Well seems I'm on a weird road. Got a lot of percussions done then did some flamenco beat on 3 distinct tempos and now noodling over their superpositions with the nice comb sounds Taron's vid inspired me ... :hyper:
Not sure yet I'll get a proper 'song' that way, but at least I'm having fun...

Hahahah, excellent!! Now I'm even more excited to hear! :o I remember Taron's vid mentioning something about flute sounds with the comb filter and that got me curious... then I managed to make a pretty cool arp with some experimentation!

We'll see how the rest goes  I've been wrapping up other projects, so I've been taking a while to get started on this one
