Hello,
Are there any apps that just focus on MIDI FX? I'm thinking the sort of MIDI FX that something like a Hapax provides?

Yeah,They are called 'MFX' plugins which are MIDI FX only... Old Cakewalk apps like Project5 or Cakewalk Audio & Sonar came with them so the Cakewalk apps are ipso facto 'MIDI FX Apps'...

If you’re on an Apple mobile device, maybe have a look at the Rozeta Sequencer Suite - it used to be very cheap, but I believe it’s still around $15, so hardly a high price anyway.
But the best music production app ever made (for these devices) would have to be Drambo. Extremely versatile as a MIDI beast, FX rack++, or indeed instrument, also with heaps of patches out there (e.g., @ https://patchstorage.com ) if you need inspiration, or just want to use someone else’s work.
On that note, there’s also miRack, which is a decent and very affordable take on VCV Rack.
Oh, and as of the other day, Mozaic is permanently on sale for - I think - 2 or 3 dollars. It’s a sorta-coding “build-your-own-apps” kind of app. Well worth checking out.
Note: I am however not familiar with the Hapax - what exactly do you need apps to do?

Sorry, answering for OP because it's something I'd also like to see suggestions for. Hapax is a hardware sequencer that can do multiple forms of sequencing, including various polymetric, polyrhythmic, and algorithmic modes.kvotchin wrote: Tue Jul 08, 2025 5:19 pm Note: I am however not familiar with the Hapax - what exactly do you need apps to do?

I have had some fun with pagefall cality and ioniarics (or loniarics, I really don't know if that's supposed to be a capital i or lower case L).
midiGATEs probability, several of the apps made by Cem Olcay, several by 4pockets.com, StreamByter.
Drambo and miRack are probably the most well rounded and fully featured, and MooMu is a recent release with a modular/rack style approach.
Edit to add that PlugData is an option as well. pd (PureData) in a plugin

You know you’re on some desktop plugins forums, when … lol.
Anyway, just stumbled on another that might appeal..? It’s called Senode - Graph Sequencer. Again, not sure if it’s remotely in the Hapax kinda wheelhouse, but it could be I suppose.
