I read the manual but can't seem to understand it's terminology. I am using 2 soundcards to add VST effects to my DJ software whose output is not configurable. Regarding the Physical connections, I go from the Headphone out of my laptop to the linein on my Soundblaster Extigy and then take the Headphone out of the Extigy to the line in on my Amp.
What I need now is to route the windows output into the input of Audiomulch and then route Audiomulch's output to my amp but don't know how to do this, I can do this with wavelab but need help with Audiomulch, can anyone please guide me in getting this done?

What dj software are you using, and what is the output set to?
Why? Different driver types?mikehende wrote:Regarding the Physical connections, I go from the Headphone out of my laptop to the linein on my Soundblaster Extigy and then take the Headphone out of the Extigy to the line in on my Amp.

Hit F4 in audiomulch and set your input settings as your laptops native sound driver and your output settings as the extigy (i'm using directsound for driver type). Wire it so the extigy output feeds into your laptops's input. I don't know if you will still get the dry signal in the recording of your laptop input though?
How do you have it setup now?
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

Hey, thanks for helping, I am using OTSDJ [www.otsdj.com] as my DJ software, it's output is NOT configurable and is set to "Soundmax Digital Audio [WDM]" which is my laptop's integrated soundcard.
When I had tried this project last time, I used wavelab4 and selected the Soundmax as the line input and configured the Extigy as wavelab's output and this worked so this is what I am trying to do with Audiomulch but can't figure out how to select the input and output as I did with wavelab.
Ok, in Audiomulch, following your instructions [but following in the same steps as I had done with wavelab], I set the AUDIO Input to Soundmax and then the AUDIO Output to Extigy so I guess what I need now is to know how to select the soundmax as the "line-in" or how to add Audiomulch's VST effects to the sound to see if it works, help?

ok, just tried the setup with wavelab4 again, the whole setup both cable connections and software ins and outs seems to be ok so with Audiomulch I have to assume that I need to select the soundmax as the linein as I right-clicked in the software, selected "nasty reverb" and get nothing.

Let me summarize this again so it willl be more uniformed for you guys to read and understand what I need, I have emailed the developer for help but don't know if I will ever get a reply.
The cable setup I use is like this, I take the Headphone out from my laptop and go into the linein on my Extigy external soundcard then take the speaker out on the Extigy and send that to my Amp. The software setup goes like this, open wavelab4 and select Soundmax [my laptop's integrated sc] for the input and then point wavelab's output to the Extigy external sc. I then select "live input" and press Play in the Transport window, this is it.
Trying to follow the same steps now using Audiomulch, I pressed F4 and selected Soundmax as the input and Extigy as the output, for the "drivers' I selected windows. I could not find a "live input" button as in wavelab so I'm stuck, I tried pressing both Play and record in AM [audiomulch], no difference, I right-clicked and chose "Nasty reverb" but still nothing [no audio] so I am guessing that I need to get the equivalent of wavelab's liveinput function to hear the audio coming from my DJ software.

Try this: right click, in menu go to New>Input/Output>Sound In
You should now have a Sound In module on screen. Audiomulch is a modular host, so you'll need to connect modules with lines. Insert Nasty Reverb, connect the output of Sound in to it.
Then right click again, go to New>Input/Output>Sound Out. Connect Reverb output to Sound Out.
Should look like this:

Nasty Reverb is a mono to stereo effect, so you'll want to figure out a way to work around that (could use 2 and send to a mixer) or use a stereo vst reverb.
Cheers,
Steve

You'll probably get a lot of help if you post in the Audiomulch group at Yahoo (pardon me if you've already done so, but it doesn't appear to be the case):mikehende wrote:I have emailed the developer for help but don't know if I will ever get a reply.

You need to connect the sound-in contraption to the nasty reverb and the reverb to sound out.
Right click in the patcher ---> new --- input output

Appreciate the help guys but this as it appears to me is not what I want, I need to have first and foremote the sound from my DJ software to pass through Audiomulch without any effects THEN whenever I want I can add any effect so I cannot "preset" any particular effect configuration which is what I undertsand from your intructions.
I will go post in the Yahoo forum for help, I had no idea that it existed, thanks for the referrsl, anyone can still feel free to give any help here, thanks.

Can't really help you, but just here to say that the developer will almost certainly give you a hand, if not by email in the Yahoo forum. In my dealings with him he's been a very nice chap who's always happy to help.

What you can do is patch up a configuration where the output of the SoundIn contraption is routed directly to a mixer, then route a second set of wires out of SoundIn and into an SGain, then SGain out into your choice of FX and into another channel on the mixer. This way you can use the SGain as an FX send which can be tweaked manually or automated. You can replace SGain with a mixer for a series of sends to different FX also, for example.mikehende wrote:Appreciate the help guys but this as it appears to me is not what I want, I need to have first and foremote the sound from my DJ software to pass through Audiomulch without any effects THEN whenever I want I can add any effect so I cannot "preset" any particular effect configuration which is what I undertsand from your intructions.

Try the Subtek mixer plug-in - http://www.kvraudio.com/get/693.html
I had some complex virtual mixers built inside Audiomulch but the Subtek mixer plugin replaced it all. Great little VST.

There are many ways to achieve what you want in audiomulch, one way is to use the matrix contraption. This allows you reroute the signal. Another way is to use the crossfader between other contraptions or use a mixer contraption has an effect send.
There is also the metasurface feature that recently appeared in audiomulch. This one allows you to make presets of all the contraptions either vts or onboard and morph between them using the mouse. Very wicked!
Sorry I'm not putting in details has this is very time consuming but you will need to experiment with this. You have to remember that any contraptions can be patched anywhere and there's no amount of connections you cannot made. 1 contraption can for instance send to 20 other contraption if you want.
Feedback is also possible by sending the signal back to it's origin but you have to be careful with this one, you need to bring down the signal before patching it.
I would suggest to go through the manual completely and check out some of the examples included.

Paradiddle's suggestion of the matrix contraption is the best, as it would allow you to have preset effect set ups.
Simpler still would be to just use the frosscader in a setup like so:
Frosscader allows you to redirect the output in two directions. You can then swap out the effect plugin with others when not in use so that you could use any effect you want at any time. I think from your posts that you're expecting Audiomulch to act as an audio processor, so that as soon as audio goes in, the affected sound will instantly come out. It doesn't work like that, as you have to connect modules with its virtual patch cables first.
Another option would be to read the manual for your Extigy device and learn to use the onboard DSP effects. The SBLive had them, I assume Creative kept them in for the latest interfaces. That would work exactly as you expect, as once turned on, all sound out from the Extigy would be run through its effects.
Cheers,
Steve
