I don't think I've ever seen a bigger kit. That's either someone very focused on a certain kind of drumming, or, someone very focused on a certain kind of consuming.

Either or.... just so I can run it into filters and modulation.vurt wrote: Sun Jul 13, 2025 10:19 pmyou mean a module you can input your guitar in to?seafire wrote: Fri Jul 11, 2025 7:59 pm Apart from a few modules I have my eye on, and a 3 tier unit with pro1/cat/kobol, and maybe K2mk, as well as the 101mk2... (I've been very good at not throwing my money at everything, been enjoying what I have) I want a unit for my eurorack that I can plug my guitar into
Open to suggestions
or some sort of amp to bring the volume up?

Yeah, that's a decent module for that, and nicely flexible. The A-119 is the other possible one by Doepfer, more of a dedicated input with envelope follower etc. Those are the only two I have used.vurt wrote: Sun Jul 13, 2025 10:19 pm you mean a module you can input your guitar in to?

module i use a doepfer 138d cfx
crossfader and fx insert. an out/in loop for using pedals in the patch, but can also be used just to input the guitar...
to bring the amplitude up to level, i use a compressor or fuzz/distortion or any gain pedal
I also know Befaco do one (googling its the I4), which is a lot more modern than the A-119 and undoubtedly a far better spec, but 4 times the price. Also handles mics, and does phantom power.

A quick round with your grafitti spray cans would fix that.vurt wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 12:44 pmid take it if they were black.McLilith wrote: Mon Jul 14, 2025 9:47 pm Oh... My... God...![]()

ive never used the 119, suppose it depends if the envelope follower, or ability to use as a pedal loop is what hes after?whyterabbyt wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 9:35 amYeah, that's a decent module for that, and nicely flexible. i have envelope followers elsewhere, so im happier with the fx loop option. i know it does the crossover too, but ive never used it for that.
suppose the befaco is the expensive pro thing i said would come up
although id imagine while its expensive compared to the doepfers, the phantom power and xlr, its a different enough unit, and has extra partsenough to make it worth it, if you need phantom power.

Thanks for the input. I'm really just after a basic input, no frills.
Wonder if I could put the guitar into my audio interface ( Behringer UMC204HD) then out into the modular? Guess the volume would drop again on output from interface.

either of the doepfers will get you in, i still recommend any gain/distortion pedal to bring the level up. weve all got at least 1

If you held that resonator near the bottom of a snare drum, could you create snare drum swells?vurt wrote: Wed Jul 16, 2025 7:01 pm too late...

It depends. Line level is not hot enough to drive the input of a filter hard but it may be enough to get the result you want. Noise level is pretty high in eurorack, so signal levels are super hot to overcome noise floor, so with a line level signal, the output may be more noisy than the input.seafire wrote: Tue Jul 15, 2025 6:45 pm Thanks for the input. I would recommend an input module if you don't have one, but mainly because it will be another block to build with, aside from it's intended function. I'd frequently run modular levels in my A-119 to use it like a distortion module, so it's not only useful for interface duties. There are lots of times you may want gain above 0dB but not many VCAs/Mixers in eurorack offer that. With some mixers, you can mult the output to an unused input and if the mixer has sufficient headroom, that will allow you to increase gain for other signals which are routed to that mixer (so if you have a spare mixer you may be able to boost gain that way).
Anyway, this is a situation where I'd say try using what you have on hand before you buy something. You aren't going to break anything and you may find that you get satisfactory results.
