Yes, I got older, got kids and changed. But the general idea is to grow/change in a positive way.Red_Force wrote: Wed Jul 16, 2025 11:43 pmWe did get older, got kids, some people parted ways but... you know what, every company has changed and so did you. In the 00s we were the cool kids side to side with FXpansion, Camelphat, PSP. Native Instruments yearly big news was them releasing plugins. Well, we're not cool kids anymore and most of the people from back then have moved way more than we did (which I am not sure is something to brag about anyway). Sure, U-He (and GForce afaict!) are still rocks. But if you judge every player by this standard, no one stands a chancemorelia wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 12:08 am This does not seem in any way the same company I bought so many things from over 10 years ago.
Ohm Force’s Ohmicide[S] has been released! 😍

I've had exactly the same issues with the demo version. Cubase 14, Win10. Also had it crash following the freezing of the daw.FarleyCZ wrote: Wed Jul 16, 2025 4:04 pm Guys, have anyone tried this plugin in Ableton 12 on Windows 11?
I'm experiencing quite a huge DAW GUI lag when the plugin's GUI is shown:

...and quite fatal GUI glitches:

I love the original Ohmicide, so I wanted to support the developer by instant buy, but so far it's proving to be a mistake. I have one report from someone on Ableton's discord that it's laggy on MacOS too.
It's not doing the same thing in Reaper or Cubase. But it looks like it somehow halts the Ableton's GUI thread. Could pls some of you help me by demoing this plugin on the same setup? (i7, gtx 1660 ti, win 11, Ableton 12.2.1) ...just so I kow if I should push the support more or if it's a problem on my side.
Many ppl have these issues btw, regardless of daw or os. From what i hear around me, there's also issues with saving and recalling, and knobs not responding as they should. Mind you, exactly the same issues as with the og Ohmicide. Did you check if you can save ?
I couldn't be bothered reporting it to Ohm Force, as i've had my share of issues with the og Ohmicide and the devs' lack of support. I have zero trust in the dev at this point.
I don't understand why they released this new version anyway. All they had to do is add VST3 and modern Mac support. In stead they released a new version that is not an improvement in any way, not feature-wise nor sound-wise.

Interesting. In my case Ableton 12 (recent version) does this (both lag and wrong knob/button inputs, haven't checked saving) but Cubase 12 (so 2 versions old license) runs Ohmicide(s) just fine. Also the old Ohmicide is runing like a champ.
I don't like to be mad at the dev, I'd like to help them. But they have to let me. Guys, whatever test versions you have, throw it at me.
Btw I vaguely remember from that one JUCE plugin I wrote few years back that I really did have to offload the GUI logic to a drifferent thread for a very similar reason.

I think the improvements are pretty major.dionenoid wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 9:20 am

The UI in the OG Ohmicide is for ants.
The Bias slider for example, is a tiny sliver under the gain control, the Alt control is tiny as are other controls. All the text is tiny and it's busy and cluttered. It belongs to a different era.
The graph in the new one is a much better way to deal with crossover points. So all in all despite the jumpiness the UI is a vast improvement. I stopped using the original because of the fiddliness of the controls and the overall clutter.
It has an independent X band which is critical for bass heavy material. Distortion can suck the body out of bass so it's great to have a band that is always routed from pre to post that you can leave intact or distort in another way.
Each band has its own filter. The original had one filter on the output. Since distortion can generate a lot of harmonics outside the band it's really useful to have filtering on each band.
It's especially useful when you are working in parallel mode (something that also doesn't exist in the OG)
You can also have a fully configurable three part serial distortion chain (with optional X band). The original had a fixed pre distortion. With Ohmicide S. You have Pre, one of the central bands and post and all of them can be configured individually. You can still use the X band in this configuration too.
Then there's the modulation and macros which is probably the biggest change.
You can do things like putting the envelope follower on the Post band level so you have a compressor/expander built in or you can put it on a cross over point so you have a band crossover that reacts to the input amplitude.
Or assign a bunch of parameters to a Macros (all with unique onset and scaling if you so wish) and then modulate that macro with something else like an LFO or noise or an ADSR.
Each modulator can be quantized via the S/H control and can be further altered with distortion and shape controls.
All the modulator parameters can themselves be modulated by other modulators which makes for some really complex patches if you so wish.
I know there's an argument for modulation being done via the DAW's modulators but if you use multiple platforms or just want to have everything in situ then it's very nice to have all that power built in with no faffing about with other modulators.
The price, like anything else in life, is something that every individual can decide whether it's worth it or not but I think it's unfair to say that there are no improvements.

I'm using it in Bitwig every day. I would like the knob ballistics to change. I noted that in some post somewhere above; but to say it's unusable? Hmm. Not for everyone.hey212 wrote: Thu Jul 17, 2025 1:07 pm It's got knob velocity now that makes it completely unusable in Bitwig, woohoo!

That is exactly why it's so stupid to force the knob velocity on everyone, particularly when no one asked for it, because it will work differently on everyone's system. Even though we are both using Bitwig, we most likely have different computers, or operating systems, or input devices. In my case, Ohmicide is completely unusable.

Looking forward to this bad boy, prob. pick it up after a point version or two irons out some kinks.
Anyone try it out on Studio One? If so, how does it perform? I know the OG ohmicide crashes if I change certain parameters so I couldn't use it so I'm looking forward to a bigger, better less fiddly and tiny, less crashy version.
This fixation on knobs, I don't want to imply anything but I wonder if there's something Freudian going on there heheh
I'll show myself out
