I really wish. Linux needs a good audio editor. We have Audacity/Tenacity, but I would really like to find something that supports embedded loop points for multisampling. Audacity/Tenacity doesn't support it. I would even be ok if the company simply supported it through WINE.

I'm afraid Linux is too niche for most developers.
I can understand their reluctance.

Well, it's getting better little by little, so hopefully someday (soon) this will change. :)

Linux is the future.
And will be it for a long time still.

Really looking forward to seeing my "virtual machine dependent" software running natively.

Ins't possible to create a vst plugin with that structure? vts file, and in the same folder, the folder with the needed files.

I see there are some linux native plugins that needs to be installed, but then you need to have that kind of distro, like ubuntu/debian for deb file, rpm for fedora and so on. While other plugins for linux (but same for windows) are just one vst file you copy paste and it works.

Maybe with Acon Digital plugins things are a bit complicated, i mean probably they also need to have a folder for other assets, and so that's the reason of my question.

If is possible to provide a simple zip file with the vst and the folder with the data, it's just about to extract it, on the folder our daw can search for, without any annoying installation that are depends on lots of factors.

I'm just thinking loud, but it may have sense

If you install the .exe, you then will be able to access the .vst files and copy/paste them or use them in other software.
For linux you'll need a .so file instead of a .vst, you can convert them for use on Linux with some tool (best I found is LinVst https://github.com/osxmidi/LinVst).

Post

It depends on the program i think, because if the whole program is inside the vst file it works, otherwise it doesn't even on windows

I've been hearing whisperings that Acon Digital have decided to support Linux. Is there any truth to the rumors I've been hearing?

We will announce our Linux strategy this spring, but I can confirm that we are taking Linux very seriously. :)

Best,
