dear folks,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 10 plugs bundle and I'm trying to decide which ones I should choose. I'd also love to hear about your comments about these PA plugins (for good or bad they may be :) )

I have many softube, fabfilter and other high quality plugs, but I like PA overall (shadow hills, focusrite and amek consolle, louder than liftoff, NATALUS dsceq, standard stuff) and I'm a plugin hugger :D
I like playing electronic music, but mastering anything (including rock :band: :band2: :P ) is fun :D

Thanks in advance to anyone helping out!

Those that I want:

vss 2 (I heard great things about this)
needle point (I love unfiltered audio stuff and I like this vinyl saturation)
cenozoix compressor ( I tried it already and I like it)
trinity shaper (Same as above, cools, it may add something unexpected to the mix)
the oven (Heard good things about how it saturates)
eq4 ms (demoed and it has that nice aaaair..)
lindell eq 825 (never tried it, but read good things and it is new and lindell, so it gotta be good : ))
black box hg 2 MS (read very good things, and it should work with my console 1 mk2)

I need to choose 2 out of 4 out of these:

bettermaker compressor (read good things but I dunno, do I need it? )
elysia alpha 2 (I have the 1st version and I would only get this for the monitoring)
Laal limiter (I read that the plugin introduces some aliasing, but I don't have many limiters)
amek mastering compressor (I liked the 3 different types of compression, but it seems it's not on fashion anymore)

any other must have? :hail:

If you can get any 10 plugins I would rather go for newer plugins or plugins that are excluded from other sales (like the TBT stuff)
Stuff like needle point, amek or the oven can be bought for very low prices in the numerous sales. I think there actually was a two for 30 bucks sale last weekend. There are also the custom bundles.

Imo the only must have plugin is metric AB.

There are loads of good plugins, so it really depends on what you want. Battalion, Thorn, Silver Bullet and Kirchhoff EQ are just a few off the top of my head. (I think you've tried or have some of these).

Also, Black Box is great. I have the older version and love how it sounds, so I think you'll dig it.

Also, you can demo any of them for I think 14 days. I was really excited about Trinity Shaper, but I really didn't like it once I tried it.

eq4 ms - the air band can be made on other EQ's too, only if you like workflow (the band hz are nice actually)
black box hg 2 MS - its nice, the new filters too
lindell eq 825 - might be good, other lindells are (for me)
elysia alpha 2 > others on that list :)

Louder Than Liftoff Silver Bullet MK2 - easily the best sounding harmonic umm.. exciter(?) & "channel strip". Also has broad strokes EQ and now 3 modes of SSL compressor (80s console and VCA compressor combo!).

I'd take also bx_XL V3 or such over the LAAL instant, after watching Dan Worrall's video! ( )

(I'd also check TDR sales)
Soft Knees - Live 12, Diva, Omnisphere, Slate Digital VSX, TDR, Kush Audio, U-He, PA, Valhalla, Fuse, Pulsar AUDIO, NI, OekSound etc. on Win11Pro R7950X & RME AiO Pro

- ADPTR Audio Utopia - this is an interesting spectral reverb that can quickly dial in tame reflections, or cinematic, deep space vibes.

- Bettermaker Mastering Compressor - I’m still getting to know this plug-in, but it adds a very nice, cohesive overall sound towards the end of the processing chain.

Brainworx bx_masterdesk PRO - a great combination of effects in one plug-in, plus it has M/S functionality.

- Lindell Audio EQ825 - I don’t buy EQ effects very often, but I did pick this one up because of the high quality components that give the hardware units their signature smooth sound.

- SPL Iron - a fantastic-sounding compressor inspired by Vari-Mu designs, but with a parallel dual tube circuit, side chain filters and more.

- Any of the plug-ins by Unfiltered Audio. They have found their niche with creative effects, and although they can be a bit CPU-hungry, they’re very powerful and worth the effort.

VSS2 is superb. A very quick all in one solution with a great sound.

Bx_townhouse. A dirty/gritty version of the SSL buss compressor. Probably the PA plugin I use most.

Shadow Hills Mastering compressor- Seems kind of gimmicky at first but I keep coming back to it. Definitely does the "glue" thing very well.

ADPTR Utopia- Spectral Reverb. Very flexible and pretty unique sounding.

Knif Audio Soma- Really sweet EQ. I think this does the Air thing better than the Maag.

Neold U2A - A very nice spin on the LA2a.

I think the Silver Bullet MK2 is better than the Oven.

SILO from Unfiltered Audio. It's a masterpiece.

While I like the HUM Audio Devices LAAL, it's a particular tool. The color it adds is what makes me come back. If you're looking for something clean and loud, this ain't it. The AMEK Mastering Compressor and Bettermaker Mastering Compressor are both good picks, but you might have more fun with the latter.

I have tons of PA plugins and the only one I use on the reg is ADPTR Utopia. Unfortunately PA doesn't usually offer ADPTR plugins in their bundles.

The Vertigo compressor is pretty nice. I do use that one in mastering on occasion. Adds a sweet little bump in the low on 2buss material. Almost bought ithe VSS-2 in a fit of GAS, but I almost never use that kind of channel strip, so was probably wise to pass. I'm sure its great if you like those kinds analog designs.

Definitely some goodies with PA but lots of bloat too.

I regularly use: Blackbox HGMS, Metric AB, Kirchoff eq, BX Glue (really nice imo), Bx Clipper, BX Peak Limiter, Unfiltered Audio Silo/Lofi AF/ Specops (brilliant!)/Byome, and BX enhancer (just as a tuner though). I've got a few EQS too but so much of it just sounds samey.

I ‘generally’ like the stuff that’s not made by brainworx.
