Have MODO Drum since it first came out. Love it. Use it on almost every track.

Simple Question: I see there is a version 1.5 For those who have it, would you say it's worth upgrading?

All feedback will be welcome.

All you'll be getting is "general reliability improvements" (I didn't notice any) and a reminder that you don't have the 3 newest kits: Silver, Brit Custom, and Metal. Some people are bothered by seeing those "holes" in their collection.

It is worth it for the 3 new kits. The “Brit Custom” (Sonor Sonarlite) in particular is nice.

Could those kits be created by bringing up the Reference Drums and tweaking what's there or did they actually add additional snares, kicks, toms, etc. that can't be duplicated even with tweaking? I ask because I'm pretty good with the reference kit and have gotten some different timbers out of it.

Sorry, I've not tried to match any kits. This is physical modeling we're talking about, so I'm not sure they added any kit pieces, per se. I think of the kits like synth patches, though that's probably oversimplifying it.

Maybe check out the audio demos and see if you can match the new kits or get it in the ballpark? - https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/m ... hp?p=audio

If you find you're able to, I'd be interested in hearing more.

Yet each kit is a couple gigs or more in size so I assume they contain some kit pieces.

I haven't owned MOD Drums long enough to say the update form an earlier version is worth it but I'm very happy with the plugin and included content. (Layering a couple of instances with different kits yields some pretty awesome results.

The cymbals are sampled.

That's a lot of samples just for cymbals but you know more about MODO than I do. I've only owed it for a short time but am impressed with the different kits.

I defer to @jamcat -- they know more about MODO DRUM than anyone here. Some great tips ITT, too!
