Good old fashioned sample browser plugin?

I purchased Waves Cosmos four days ago, and the standalone software is still scanning my sample folders. I’ve had to restart the application several times, and some folders keep getting rescanned repeatedly. So far, the experience has been quite disappointing.

I’m also wondering where Cosmos stores its sync files and whether they’ll end up taking a lot of disk space. I have around 400,000 samples, which I know is a lot.

Sononym has never had issues scanning my folders, but unfortunately, it doesn’t offer a VST version with BPM sync.

I've got Cosmos and have about twice as many samples as you, spread over 3 SSDs. It shouldn't take anywhere near 4 days. Mine did it in about 4 hours. Make sure you don't have any folders that contain file formats that it can't deal with. Perhaps that's what's tripping it up?

I'm looking for a sample browser plugin.

I tried both Atlas and XLN XO, and after an initial honeymoon "wow" period, i've gone off them for a few different reasons (which i won't bore you with).

So what i want is a simple, folder-structure based sample browser with the following features:

#1: (and most importantly), i don't want it to analyze anything. If i add one sample to a 200 gigabyte library, i want it to show up immediately. It shouldn't need to spend 2 hours re-analyzing the folder and sub folders before it finds the sample.

#2: it needs to search in subfolders. So if i select my top level folder called "samples", and search "rimshot" i want it to list every sample with "rimshot" in file name, also in all subfolders.

#3: a favorites system would be nice, for finding samples back later.

I don't need all the sequencers, mixers, FX and other BS of these bloated plugins like Atlas and XO, i just want a simple, efficient, good working sample browser.
