Massive X 1.6.1 update (September 2025)!

Good surprise #1: Massive X Update which includes single-click continuous preset browsing.

Is that the "Massive X Player" update? Is this just a cut down version of the full Massive X? What if we still want to use the full version? I'm holding off updating because I don't understand what the "player" version means in terms of functionality.

Yes, The player page is a game changer- just did the first pre-set with animator on the flower shape- wow, amazing!

Ok, but is the full functionality of the synth still available after the update? What is the "Player Page""? So many questions and no info I can find from NI on the update. To me "Massive X Player" sounds like it's a "lite" version of the synth? Or am I missing something?

Of course, the full functionality is still there. The main point of the update, the new player page is an ADDITION to Massive X. And for those who don't own it, you get Massive X Player for free, which is the new player page and only a few things you can edit.

You might want to back off the caffeine bud. I own X and received the email about the update. The "learn more" button brings me to a page just about the player and mentions nothing about a "play" page in the synth itself. The page for Massive X itself doesn't mention the new Play page at all. Get a grip man.

Was anyone able to update Massive X from that KOMPLETE 15 package?

Today (or yesterday?) Massive X gets an update and NI released also free version of Massive X called "Massive X Player". It's the same plugin, but without license user can only browse presets without "edit" mode.
I made some tests out of curiosity and...
1. You can made a project using Massive X and share your project with friend who have only Massive X Player - and everything will work (DAW data is restored proper).
2. But you cannot load any 3rd party presets from files, so even if you download some presets from internet and put them into user presets folder - they will be visible in browser, but you'll get info that you have no license for them. So basically you're limited to factory collection (or presets that someone else sends you as a DAW project).

My wish has come true Just this one change alone makes the synth feel so much better.

Initial impressions: The Play tab seems alright. I probably won't use it though. I'd have liked to be able to adjust the amount of modulation instead of just the speed. Also being able to record our own shapes with the mouse would have been cool.

How do I edit the preset properties? I want to be able to change author and add a comment but the edit icon is greyed out.

NI made Play tab with mini browser, they removed pin from classic browser tab so now you cannot use full browser without closing it every time you load preset.

I too got in the habit of double clicking, but with one click load, the browser page stays open.

For me there isn't really an alternative to Massive X. There are synths with more features, but nothing sounds as good as Massive X, in my opinion. In terms of sound this is as close to a flagship hardware synth in a plugin that you will get.

You shouldn't need to download the Player, I don't think I even had the option. The latest version is 1.6.0, you should have it waiting for you in the "Updates" tab. If it's not there, then maybe try refreshing your Library, or uninstalling and reinstalling Massive X? (I don't know what the latter will do to your presets, etc., so do so at your own risk).
