To try or not to try to help ASIA

I would like to ask for a suggestion:

We have a musical group. We can collect as much as 1200 people when organizing a concert, and we do it only for helping people.

But this time the need for help is huge. So, my friends are divided:

- Who says "let's organize a concert immediately!"

- Who says "It is an horrible idea. It is not useful, the problem is too huge for us to contribute. We would look as wanting to show us, not to help"

What do you people think, here?

Thanks.

Just do it... and try and raise money. every penny counts... If everyone had the attitude.. "we can't make a difference" then no money would be raised at all..

perhaps we could sell our CD their too?.. ;)

Huh, this one could be a very good idea!!!! When will be cd ready for distribution? We could sell them at the concert...

(I've ordered one, but that one is mine  )

Whatever we can do helps.
Go for it, I say! :D

Don't forget, in addition to the CD thread here at KvR, there's also this one:

Thanks for the order... :)
That'll be great if you could sell them. Our release date is the 10th of feb. Though I'm hoping to be ready for distribution before then. If you do organise a concert then let me know and we can hopefully arrange something...:D

The other problem from my friends is:

"At our concerts we make people laugh. Is it serious to make a party for an argument like this???"

(My friends aren't this serious, it is just to explain! )

I know what you mean - but you do what you do. :)

Anyway - look at Comic Relief. (I mean the concept, not the actuality. )

For people outside the UK, the reference to Comic Relief might be a bit opaque. Basically it is about raising money through comedy events (of which Red Nose Day is the most famous). Their homepage is here.

Yes, I was wondering about what Comic Relief was (thanks, HelgeG)

I have to read better to understand the philosophy...

Yeah - I was just trying to say, it's OK to have fun whilst raising funds. :)
Sorry, if I'd have thought I'd have made Comic Relief into a link in my last post.

No question, do what you can do to help.
If you can do a concert, do it.
I think evry hand is needed now and everyone should do what he can best.

So go for it. And if you make people laugh thats good for the people and Asia too.
