Do film makers/producers consider important that I was an actor in a film with famous cast if I'm a composer now?

I’ve kept this secret for almost 15 years because it wasn't about music, but now I’m looking for interesting features, short and docs to score, maybe it could be useful.

Before becoming a film composer I was a stunt double and background actor in a film with famous people involved. The producer is one of Ferrari(2023) producers; costume designers also worked for Sarah Jessica Parker; I'm in several scenes with famous italian actors, and one of them collaborated with John Debney and Diane Warren.

We have been together for a month so I could live the film making experience from inside, how it feels and how angry directors could become even if I was an actor and not musician (I was stunt double of a musician character anyway You can clearly see me in some scenes as myself and as stunt.

That ^^^ other than you have the (potential) advantage of "lived experience" on set, which is a 'core' asset, someone without it can only imagine, were you to score a film about THAT particular 'dynamic'.

Do they consider it important? No. But it does show that you have a connection in the industry, that someone thought you were worth hiring. I reckon in this industry, who you know is far more important than what you know. So in a sense, you've got a leg up on most.

+1. I have quite a few friends in LA who are either in (small-time) or trying to break into the industry. It's always the same story from them - hustle, hustle, hustle until you finally get some chances, but having and keeping good connections is a huge advantage. On the flip side, the industry is also pretty notorious for type-casting people (or, at least actors), so maybe that would work against you? Or maybe it's simply not applicable here - I'm not an industry insider, so wth do I know?

tho it does help getting film work.

I also know some very famous and successful musicians, that hasn’t helped me get any music gigs either. I can get free concert tickets tho and a backstage pass. That’s about it.
