I'm considering buying a synthesizer from Thomann, why you might ask? Well in short, they appear to be cheaper than the UK on their pricing and availability for the particular model I'm looking at buying. The cost of synth is around 1100 pounds, inc VAT and tax, I believe. I'm unsure if all is fine now, after reading some stories about UK customs charging I've read. It's 2025 now.

I also had a text chat online with one of their assistants, but I didn't ask about the import customs charging, UPS I think it goes to. She didn't mention anything about it.

Out of interest what did you buy and what additional fee's did you recognise paying for and by how much?

Annoying, dont do that. Thomann have a UK-domained website, exactly as vurt stated.
Since Musicstore/DV247 have ballsed up my Oneiroi order, and have done nothing but send me a return label without apology or explanation, Ive asked them to refund and have now ordered one from Thomann instead. There were no additional fees from MS, also in Germany, and there should be none from Thomann. If you'd checked the website, instead of using an AI, you might have found this:

They have, just like Gear4Music, websites for every country they sell to. I live in Norway, none of them have warehouses in Norway and everything is shipped from Germany, or in the case of Gear4Music, usually Sweden. When I order from the Norwegian-domained website I get the prices including VAT and the shipment up front in Norwegian currency, no additional custom fees

After brexshit there was an issue but thomann worked a deal to make sure uk customers did not receive any extras fees.

Thomann are far preferable to DV247 now, as the latter have really suffered since the buyout and moving abroad (at least for UK residents). Personnaly, I try to support Andertons and other UK-based companies first, but Thomann is next if I need to extend into Europe.

Thomann and DV247 had the Oneiroi I was after at the same price, £349, so about £60-70 cheaper than any of the UK suppliers. Unfortunately when I wanted to order it, Thomann didnt have it in stock...

I've bought hundreds of items from Thomann both pre and post Brexit and never been charged a customs fee. There is something on their website about that being included in the price anyway.

I've also never received anything from them that was UK shipped either though, it's always a 4-5 day wait for delivery.

All Euro plugs too, but they always pack an adapter in the box anyway.

Andertons show all their prices without VAT, that should be criminal. What good is that to the customer in trying to calculate everything?

I'm not sure what you are seeing but the price shown to me includes VAT. If I add an item to my basket and then go to the checkout it confirms this.

The price listed on the item page is the same when the item is in a basket, and what's in the basket is listed as 'inc VAT'
Which matches my experience from when I last purchased from them, 2 or 3 years ago.

Any UK Residents Bought Any Synths From Thomann Recently?
