Good suggestion that may make more sense to someone less pedantic than I can be!sj1 wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 10:53 am However, I also think that users should have an option to "Avoid bb and ## note names", if that is what they prefer.

Hehe, yea, that is always fun. On the subject, for guitar, it would be nice if the guitar phrase would display the correct interval of the notes. For example, one the best way to do a guitar solo is using triad shapes of the chords. Any note near these notes is a playable note in a solo. But, when displaying the triads of notes in the guitar view, it is wrong. I would probably have to show in a screen shot, but, if you try it, you would see the problem.musicdevelopments wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 12:00 pm Thanks everyone for the useful suggestions!

Ok, This is what I am talking about.. to me, you don't see anything really useful like this for guitar.. I should able to look at this and look at my guitar and go, oh, those notes. lol I would like to see the actual second inversion triad as played on the guitar.

maybe what is needed is a guitar chord generator.

If you select 'Acoustic guitar' as the chord voicing for the track (or for the phrase!), the guitar chord notes will be used by the Chord Generator.
There is a sophisticated algorithm built in for finding the best guitar chord fingerings. None of the fingerings are taken from a preset table or database. You can set up parameters here, or on the fretboard when clicking on a guitar chord on the master track:

That ahh moment.. lol.. Those settings should also be in the settings tab. Changing the interval gave me the correct view. Thanks

Did drag and drop an audio file into the composition stop working for anyone else?

Ooops, yea, it works. I was trying to drag onto an already created track, when you just need to drag to an empty spot in the composition.

Ya know, would be kind of cool that when you are saving a new composition, to use the title field from the master track as the composition file name. One less step in the process, I suppose, which makes it rapid..

Another (reasonably) reproducible crash (null reference) which kills Studio One. It has happened three times, the last one with a screen recording :
The recipe was
I got 3 core dumps, that are probably not much use without a PDB. The last one (matching the recording) is:
One thing that looked odd to me is the extended chord phrase, as it seemed to both join and extend - it just looks a bit dodgy, so might be implicated.
The recipe was
- extend the default composition to 8 bars
- split the harmony into one chord per bar
- extend the chord track's last phrase
- attempt to randomize the middle 6 bars
- follow the instruction to open the master track inspector
- attempt to select the middle 6 bars

A new unrelated question: Does Auto-harmonize require phrases to be aligned with a bar boundary?
When noodling on the piano, I came up with a 16-bar melody I quite liked and wanted to work with. It was in 3/4 with four identifiable related phrases, each with a 1/4 pick-up (anacrusis). So I dragged the quantized Midi into RC and split it into four phrases:

I planned to let RC work out some starting harmony, so I set up phrase harmonization, specifying a harmonic rhythm of a complete bar:

But the harmony changes are not at the start of the bar, but aligned with the start of the phrase:

Is this what it should do??
