Every DAW can do it... it's just a matter of speed and convenience which doesn't matter as a hobbyist.Korg Supporter wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 2:35 pmConsidering that I am only making music as a hobby (primarily trance, downtempo, and ambient), I probably don't need anything else.mtelesha wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 2:25 pmI find master hits on Bitwig to be really strange. What are you doing with Mastering that you can't do inside of Bitwig? Also Wavelab is an amazing tool IF you need it.Korg Supporter wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 1:07 pm I hope they improve the audio editing and mastering features so I don't have to get Studio One. Official skin or theme customization would be nice too, just like in Renoise and S1.

What specifically audio-editing wise are you looking for? I have a feeling they aren't adding anything new there in this update but there was some speculation in discord there might be overlapping "lanes" per track in this update (akin to how reaper does it, not sure about S1), but I think thats just wishful thinking based on the screenshot showing what looks like maybe two different waveforms within the same track color?Korg Supporter wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 1:07 pm I hope they improve the audio editing and mastering features so I don't have to get Studio One. I love bitwig's audio editor, very slept on IMO. It is missing a few things that I see people ask for from time to time: multi-lane/overlapping audio per track, stem separation, fixing the repitch mode pitch adjustment, load in external editor, edit groups, ARA support. Those are the main things missing that I have heard of, but I think zero of those except maybe ARA are in the top 10 things people are asking for.

Honestly, I'm not much of an audio guy. I heard that there are people who prefere S1, WaveLab, or Cubase for that. But I would like improved timestretching quality (could do that with Paul or Renoise) or 64 bit audio.gulugulufish wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 5:29 pmWhat specifically audio-editing wise are you looking for? The method of comping would work well for that with a few changes... would be cool to use Operators to influence which lane(s) play when...

I appreciate the efforts of the Bitwig dev team. Yet I was hoping for a refactoring of the arranger view and piano roll, its concepts, with the goal making it more accessible while working with multiple tracks, while doing actual composition.
Currently the note data is displayed with very little dots in a clip. I think it's so small and non-optimized that you could also leave those dots out.
Then it would be nice to have the horizontal zoom of the pianoroll aligned to the sequencer, optionally. Or having two pianorolls then aligned on top of each other.
The labels of the clips waste a lot of visual space (I personally don't even need these labels, section + track names are more than enough). Could have a transparent background, being placed top left inside the clip. Then I was hoping for a step recording which is worth the name. And a navigation thru the pianoroll using computer keyboard or assigned controls. Erasing notes.
So I was hoping that they would improve and streamline existing functionality, instead it seems that they add features on top again. In the end I bought S1 for that reason. If I want simply doing composition of a song, it's easy for me to drift away in Bitwig, also due to a lack of overview.
But who knows, maybe I am wrong.

These are really good points. I do hope/expect at least _some_ of the things you're talking about will be addressed. I really hope for step recording as well. I want to be able to play a note, or a chord, and then insert it at playhead. Same method I use to sequence on hardware and it's suuuch a nice workflow for me. In bitwig you actually can arrow between note event selection and move them/delete them, duplicate them, but once you delete, you have to make a time selection or select all to be able to be able to move around again, or use the mouse. And you cannot insert notes besides duplication.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 4:52 am I appreciate the efforts of the Bitwig dev team. I don't know exactly what you mean about the piano roll view in the arranger for composing, but it sounds like you have a really clear view of an idea. I've looked at the studio one manual to see if I can understand a better idea of what I'm missing but it's not obvious to me, looks kind of similar to my eyes. But I'm all for making a better overview somehow.
the piano roll layered editing mode in track view lets you stack multiple tracks but that probably not exactly what you mean

There's a sale on until Aug 4th. An upgrade is normally $169 and is currently available for $129. You can purchase, then activate it whenever you want.3lu5iv3 wrote: Fri Aug 01, 2025 1:15 am Will there be an upgrade discount when the official V6 launches? i am a V4 user. i wanna skip V5 and upgrade to V6.

This only works if you purchase from a 3rd party retailer not direct from Bitwig.

Of course it works from Bitwig directly... just buy it as a gift and you´ll get a serial number you can activate whenever you want!
