I was so damn used to FL4.
It had some limitation, but with a clever use of it one could avoid this limitations.
I know FL5 is much more flexible, but I just can't get in touch with it.
Besides, it's full of annoying bugs.

My question is: is there something I can do with 5 and cannot do with 4?

Does that mean that you are having trouble finding a cracked copy? :help:  :nutter:

Man, this sure is annoying. NO, I have a f**king legal copy, I got it bundled with my phase 22 and upgraded it to studio.

This is a great forum, but this attitude towards newbies really sucks.
Just because I posted ten times this doesn't mean I'm a keygen kid.

edit: of course I upgraded it to producer, not to studio.

I'm having some issues getting used to the auto scrolling being turned off all the time. But I haven't found any serious bugs - no crashes so far. What are your particular problems?

the basic workflow of FL studio hasnt changed since Version 3, and even that was pretty minor.

Anyway- I will bite- what is sooooo different about Version 5, and what are these major bugs you are talking about? IF you have them, have you updated to 5.01?

Maybe it's just my machine then...
I experienced crashes more frequently, especially when the cpu usage is high.
Some problems on the piano roll too, which gets quite strange with some synths.

I'm just not blown away by FL5, just an opinion... The new drum module is really bad compared to DR008 and Battery (which I also own), so I don't have a use for it. And the automation is a nice fix, but expected nowadays in DAWs.

When Sonar4 came out this year, it was absolutely mind-boggling how well they increased the value of the product (especially work-flow). Then again, it cost a ton to upgrade.

as I said before, quite frequent crashes: I had few of them with 4, with 5 I have the save monkey on my shoulder...

Anyway no, I haven't updated to 5.01 yet, but I think I'll try as soon as I get back home.

I believe the wrapper was updated, so if you have an offending plugin, it may be resolved in 5.01

ehhhh adder - surely there ain't no PARADOX.Reg for fls5, but you can overcome this irritating, frustrating limitation with rewiring to - say - the legit *free* NFR tracktion 1.601 (with Final Mix !!!) and/or - say - cheap Cubasis V5 (which also comes with shitloads of rex loops to load in fls5).

you already have the Wavelab Lite, plus shitloads of samplefusion samples from instalation CD, so why complain?

gol might call Mr.Poirot to track you down.

I think that 5.01 will do then.
Thanks, you're rude but helpful. :P

To answer Death Adder's original question. Yes, there are some cool things that can be done with version 5 that 4 couldn't do. The most obvious being the improved audio engine, now with all sorts of cool parameters for the audio track and sampler generators. For those who are into sound design/sample manipulation, FL Studio is now a premiere tool for warping simple samples into complex evolving soundscapes and bizarre drum hits. Take the standard set of drum sounds, and alter the stretch parameters. Along with pogo, fade in/out, and the normalize function, the stretch facilities in 5 can change the sound in ways that most samplers, especially those devoted to drums, cannot.
