Hey so I made a plugin company called Canvas Audio (http://canvasaudio.net)!

We launched with a little freebie bass overdrive called the Honeycomb and a few paid plugins. I don't want this to come off as too shilling my plugins but of course there are free trials if you'd like to check them out.

I really wanted to make some strong but simple tools that I would enjoy using and I'm stoked I can share them with the world. So I hope you dig them!

Welcome Sam, Thanks for the excellent freebie, great stuff!

Can you tell us more about this plugin?
How closely does it match a Sansamp Bass Driver?
Was that the goal?
What are the differences?

Hey yeah for sure! So this started life as a replacement for the TSE BOD, but it evolved into a completely new beast from there. I modelled that to start but realized I wasn’t getting where I wanted and I was finding a lot of shortcomings in that plugin. So I played with three different pedal Sansamps, one I owned (the original Sansamp Bass Overdrive DI), the programmable one, and the Tech 21 Landmark 300. After realizing I still really love the OG one I owned, I basically tried to model it as well as I could while also incorporating some quality of life mods I was able to do in the software world.

I consolidated and changed some EQ features, added a compressor, and built a “cab sim” EQ circuit, and adjusted the drive to feel a little more like what I wanted out of it.

Because the BOD was free, and because there are so many other free ones on the market, I opted to do the same, hoping this one stands above the noise. The number of downloads in only a few days have been wildly exciting and I hope it can fill those shoes!

Great looking website and plugins. Congrats! Thanks for the free plugin, haven't used it yet.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I wasn't expecting nearly so much!

A couple requests:
1. Please make sure Honeycomb Bass OD gets added to the KVR Plugin Database. That way, we can track when it gets updated.

2. While I love the enhancements you've introduced over the Sansamp, I am also a purist, and would love to play with a perfect emulation as well. Could it be possible to add a mode switch between "Classic" and "Enhanced", with Classic being a truly faithful emulation, and enhanced being Honeycomb Bass OD in its current incarnation?

Hey Sam, thanks! I'm a bassist who's familiar with SansAmps, just downloaded and will put it through its paces.

TBH the "bass amp" I use most ITB is Softube 1-Knob Saturator, with "Keep Bass" it fattens the signal and responds a lot like a tube amp.

Hey Sam, I see there is a 1.0.3 update available. Are there release notes?
